2024 Copa America odds, prediction: Fade Brazil in crowded field

The first whistles will be blown at the 2024 Copa America on Thursday night, and the South American teams are expected to dominate from start to finish.

Lionel Messi leads the Argentine attack as a +175 favorite to win the Copa, with Brazil coming in at +220 as the second favorite.

It is widely expected that one of these two teams will win the Copa, as the two teams have a combined 67.61 percent chance implied or -208 odds.

There could be some variance here, but the odds are a bit overwhelming for the two most dominant teams in the field.

2024 Copa America prediction

Brazil recently fired its manager Fernando Diniz after a poor start to World Cup qualifying, with Dorival Junior taking over.

He’s a rock-solid coach, but the issues that existed prior seem to still exist.

The Brazilians played the United States to a 1-1 draw on June 12 and previously skated by Mexico for a 3-2 win on June 8.

It’s not the most exciting results for their new manager, and their play last fall was poor enough to fire Diniz.

Brazil, while talented as any team in the fold, has been in far too poor of a form to be worthy of a wager at this price.

Instead, we look at the defending champion Argentina squad that won the 2021 tournament, their first victory since 1993.

Another team worthy of a look is Uruguay, a strong team that should easily win their group that consists of just one other solid contender in the United States, followed by Bolivia and Panama.
