Flubbed I-95 sign leaves transit bigs red-faced: ‘Sorry, Philadelphia’

A new I-95 sign in Pennsylvania was turning heads — but not for its directions.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation misspelled a key word on the new sign southbound on the interstate, directing drivers to “Cenrtal” Phila instead of “Central” Phila.

Commuters promptly noticed the embarrassing error, posting photos of it to X that have since gone viral.

“What an #EpicFail, @PennDOTSEC! Proper proofreading should be central*to all sign layout approvals,” an X user quipped.

PennDot soon realized its goof and hid the flubbed sign under a black tarp until the troublesome typo was fixed.

By Tuesday morning, the corrected road marker was back in action.

The sign was finally corrected, with transportation officials writing on X, “Sorry, Philadelphia.” FOX 29 Philadelphia

“We were so focused on getting this done and reopening the 95 Cottman ramp that we moved a little too quickly…and forgot to proofread,” a red-faced PennDOT admitted in its own X post.
