Wild video shows woman, 58, viciously attacked in NYC by baseball bat-wielding thugs

A disturbing video captured the moment two masked baseball bat-wielding thugs viciously attacked an unsuspecting woman on a downtown Manhattan street Tuesday afternoon.

The victim, 58, was nonchalantly checking her cell phone as she walked down Monroe Street in Two Bridges around 2 p.m. when the would-be muggers — dressed head-to-toe in black — ran up from behind, surveillance footage shows.

The first suspect delivered a punch to the back of the woman’s head, the video shows.

She backed up against the wall of a nearby store and tried to fend off the brutes — the second of whom repeatedly whacked her with the black baseball bat as his partner kicked her and tried to rip her purse off her arm.

The assailants fled empty-handed and the woman was taken to New York Downtown Hospital with bruising on her left leg and swelling on the back of her head, according to police.
