Biden backer Anthony Scaramucci calls it ‘political malpractice’ to suggest the president can serve another term
Former Trump administration official turned President Biden supporter Anthony Scaramaucci called it “political malpractice” Friday to suggest that the commander-in-chief can continue running the country for another four years.
“I don’t think he can make it to the election. I’m just being brutally honest. I don’t think he can make the next four years,” Scaramucci told “Cats & Cosby Show” hosts John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby.
“It’s political malpractice at this point to suggest otherwise,” he added, noting that he doubts the 81-year-old president “can make it to the election.”
Scaramucci, 60, argued in favor of replacing Biden on the Democratic presidential ticket, naming Vice President Kamala Harris as the likeliest candidate to be nominated to run against former President Donald Trump.
“The Democrats should put an opponent up that can put sentences together and has some neuro-flexibility,” the SkyBridge Capital founder said.
“Kamala Harris will likely be the nominee,” Scaramucci continued. “It will likely be a Trump versus Harris election this coming November. I don’t see any way around that at this point.”
Scaramucci, who attended a ritzy post-debate Biden campaign fundraiser in East Hampton over the weekend, described the president as seeming “frail.”
“He’s not handling himself well,” Scaramucci said. “You’d have to imagine that a 2025 version of Joe Biden will probably not be an improvement.”
“The Mooch” also revealed there was a moment during the fundraiser where something Biden said about his age made him feel sympathy for the president.
“He was up on a podium … His wife [first lady Jill Biden] introduced him … Before he got on the prompter, he said [to her], ‘When we met, we had a nine-year difference in age. It’s incredible to me that we’re now 25 years apart’ – meaning he’s 25 years older than her. He was saying that as a joke, but I felt for him,” Scaramucci said.
Biden, the oldest president in US history, insists that he has not suffered from declining health or cognitive abilities since taking office four years ago.
He has vowed to stay in the race despite calls for him to step aside in the aftermath of a disastrous debate against Trump which has caused him to plummet in several post-debate polls.
Biden would be 86 years old by the end of a second term in the White House.
