Gaza residents lash out at Hamas as support for the terror group sinks: report

More Palestinians in Gaza are lashing out at Hamas — not Israel — for the bloodshed and deaths that has continued to ravage the territory as the terror’s group popularity plummets.

“I hope that God will destroy you, Hamas, like you destroyed our children,” one tearful woman shrieked after seeing the corpse of her son, who was killed by Israeli weapons, NBC News reported.

Support for Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel that sparked the ongoing war has cratered, with fewer than a fifth of Gazans claiming the cowardly massacre was necessary, compared to almost half in November, according to a May survey

The poll, which was conducted by the West Bank-based Arab World for Research and Development and surveyed 1,500 people in Gaza and the West Bank, also found less than a quarter of Gazans still back Hamas, which has ruled the enclave since 2007.

“Hamas popularity among the populace who are actually living now in shelters, in tents and makeshift, you know, communities, is declining,” Nader Said, AWRAD’s president, told NBC News.

This week, the death toll in Gaza since October topped 38,000, according to the territory’s Hamas-run Health Ministry, which doesn’t distinguish between civilians and combatants.

Leaked messages from Yahya Sinwar, Hamas’ top official in Gaza, revealed the cold and calculating leader viewed Palestinian civilians’ deaths as “necessary sacrifices” to continue fueling the war with Israel.

While Hamas’ support is waning in Gaza, over in the West Bank, the Iran-backed militants’ popularity has surged, according to the recent survey.

“They see Hamas as resilient. They see them as strong,” Said said.

“They see them as representing, you know, someone who’s not surrendering to the Israelis at the expense of Palestinian rights.”

Despite reports over the years of Hamas abusing, torturing and executing Gazans, as the war with Israel rages on, residents are publicly calling out the territory’s leaders as responsible for the surging death toll.
