Melania Trump plans to attend Republican National Convention — but her role remains unclear: report
Former first lady Melania Trump is planning to attend next week’s Republican National Convention, where her husband Donald Trump will be formally named the party’s nominee for president.
Melania, 54, is expected to join the 78-year-old former president at the Milwaukee, Wis., event, but her exact role in the proceedings have not been finalized, according to multiple reports Thursday.
Discussions on whether the former first lady will speak onstage at the Fiserv Forum and whether she will be part of the RNC’s official programming are still underway, according to CNN.
Melania delivered remarks at both the 2016 and 2020 GOP conventions, but the wife of the former president has been a rare sight on the 2024 campaign.
She appeared at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago campaign launch in November 2022, but has not joined her husband at any of his campaign rallies, primary or caucus victory parties, or onstage after his first debate against President Biden.
Melania has appeared at a few private events for GOP causes at the Trumps private residences in Palm Beach and New York.
The Post reported earlier this month Donald Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, will attend and support her father as he receives the nomination at the convention, but not serve in any political capacity at the event, as a delegate, fundraiser or otherwise.
The former president’s 18-year-old son, Barron, made his Trump campaign rally debut earlier this week, receiving a standing ovation from the crowd in Doral, Fla., after being introduced by his father.
The convention will be held from July 15-18.
The Trump campaign did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
