Canada vs. Uruguay odds, prediction: Copa America third-place match pick, best bet

Canada will get one final showing in Copa America after being eliminated by an overpowering Argentina squad in the semifinals.

Now, they face Uruguay in a match that, frankly, some will argue is not of significant importance; the Euros removed the third-place match following the 1980 tournament.

Don’t expect this Canada squad to take this match lightly, though.

They have made their country proud with this semifinal berth and have done a wonderful job bottling up opponents in the tournament.

Bet365 Sportsbook has Uruguay to best Canada and finish third at a massive -350 price, while Canada comes in at +250.

However, there are certainly some questions about whether Uruguay unraveled after their disappointing result against Colombia.

Uruguayan players ran into the stands and threw fists at Colombian supporters who fought with the athletes.

It was an ugly scene, one that begs questions about how motivated the Uruguay squad will be to place third in the tournament.

Canada vs. Uruguay prediction

Uruguay’s frustration boiled over after the Colombia match, and frankly, not being able to score on a poor defending team down a man is at least slightly embarrassing.

Forty-five minutes of no goals and only three shots on goal against a Colombia side playing with 10 men is more or less a joke.

Does Uruguay have it in them to grab a victory?

There is little doubt that they pose a sizeable edge in talent at seemingly every position.

However, Canada plays a defensive style that is interesting against a Uruguayan team that already seems frustrated going into the match.

Should they not score early, they are liable for a letdown in Charlotte — the same place where they got into a fan-fueled brawl on Wednesday.

It sounds crazy, but I’m taking that angle on Saturday night, in a game that fans and players outside of the northern half of the content won’t care about.

O, Canada, someone put some respect on Jesse Marsch‘s name with these insane moneyline prices.
