Elon Musk donates ‘sizable amount’ to pro-Trump super PAC: report

Billionaire Elon Musk has made a contribution to a political group backing former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election, according to a report.

Musk, 53, donated a “sizeable amount” of money to America PAC, Bloomberg News reported on Friday.

The super PAC is required to disclose its list of donors on July 15, according to the outlet.

America PAC was formed in Austin, Texas in May – where Musk’s electric car company Tesla is headquartered.

The group’s website encourages visitors to “register to vote” and “make a plan to vote early in person or by mail.”

“Vote and have your say if America can be a land of freedom and opportunity for all. We can have the greatest election victory in America’s history when you vote!” text on the website reads.

America PAC has spent at least $6.6 million on behalf of Trump, according to the New York Times.

Musk’s largest previous political donation was a $50,000 contribution to the McCarthy Victory Fund in 2017, and before that, he gave more than $35,000 to Obama Victory Fund in 2011, Federal Election Commission records show.

In March, Musk, the world’s richest man, crossed paths with Trump, 78, in Florida.

“I was at a breakfast at a friend’s place, and Donald Trump came by. That’s it,” Musk told former CNN anchor Don Lemon about the meeting, noting that Trump did “most of the talking” and did not ask for a campaign contribution.

“I am not donating money to either candidate for US President,” the SpaceX founder later wrote on X.

Musk, who also owns the social media platform X, has not publicly endorsed a candidate in the 2024 race, though he has been openly anti-Biden.

In May, the South African-born CEO also denied reports that he was considering a White House advisory role under a future Trump presidency.

Musk became a US citizen in 2002.

“Look, I’ve been friendly with him over the years, Trump said of the billionaire entrepreneur earlier this year, in an interview with CNBC.

“I’ve helped him when I was president. I helped him. I’ve liked him,” he added.
