best vacation brand overall

Petal & Pup

Petal & Pup
Pictured: Callia Mini Dress — Multi Floral Petal & Pup

Pros:

  • Incredible quality
  • Fits true to size
  • Fair price point for most items
  • A variety of clothing options are available

Cons:

  • Some pieces tend to sell out quickly

When your order is estimated to arrive: Seven to 10 business days

If I had to mosey onto a deserted island (but, instead of surviving, I had to dress cute for an oceanfront dinner party) and had to wear one brand, it would be Petal & Pup. The fashion label takes about 80% of my closet’s real estate and not only is each piece cute but everything fits true to size.

I’ll be packing several of the brand’s pieces on an upcoming trip to Barbados, where my best friend and I will be wearing tropical-themed dresses and outfits outside of The Sandpiper, the resort we booked. I adore the Callia Mini Dress ($79), the ideal number for a summery dinner. The best part? The fabric quality is always incredible and I can typically find full-body outfits for less than $90 or so.

What’s more, the Leo Halter Top ($39) paired with the matching Leo Shorts ($49) is the most darling, knock-around number to wear at a resort or by the pool. There’s also nothing more flattering than the Zanita Set ($99) that’ll have passersby thinking a Saks designer made it just for you.

Petal & Pup is home to some of my favorite jumpsuits as well. I always receive compliments on the Katia Jumpsuit ($89) in light pink and the Ginelle Jumpsuit ($79) in its blue palm print.

Best Budget Vacation Brands

Amazon

Amazon
Pictured: ANRABESS Two-Piece Linen Outfit Amazon

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Typically vast shade and size range
  • There’s something for everyone

Cons:

  • The shopping experience may be overwhelming for some

When your order is estimated to arrive: Two business days if you have an Amazon Prime membership

It’s no surprise we turn to Amazon for literally everything, fashion included. I’ve made plenty of Amazon orders in addition to others on the New York Post team who have reviewed some dresses, so it’s safe to say we trust the brand for some of the most appropriate vacation wear.

For a set that beats the rest, grab the ANRABESS Two-Piece Linen Outfit ($30). The brand is one of my favorites the retailer has to offer as the pieces are always true to size and come in a vast color variety. You’ll also want to shop the BTFBM High-Waist Wide Pants ($29) if you’re in the mood for a funkier, more vibrant pattern. Or, if you simply love the look of wide-leg pants like I do.

What’s more, Amazon’s shoes are extremely comfortable to wear. One of my favorite pairs is the Dream Pairs Wonder Cloud Aphrodite Ruched Square Toe Kitten Heel Sandals ($40). They’re so comfortable, I commute to NYC with them in addition to sporting them on vacations.

SHEIN

SHEIN
Pictured: SHEIN VCAY Strapless Top & Split Hem Pant 2-Piece Outfit SHEIN

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Most well-varied clothing assortment among all brands tested, accessories and shoes included
  • Unique prints

Cons:

  • Shipping time may be longer than expected
  • The shopping experience may be overwhelming for some

When your order is estimated to arrive: Six to eight business days

SHEIN may have its skeptics, but its inventory is incredibly vast and surprisingly pretty decent quality for the price. You can probably grab an entire new summer wardrobe for less than $100.

The SHEIN VCAY Strapless Top & Split Hem Pant 2-Piece Outfit ($22) screams, vacation! like no other. The brand has some of the most unique prints as well, also evident with the Tropical Print Maxi Dress ($18) and the Floral Print Belted Romper ($11).

If you’re shopping on a budget, you’ll also want to pick up some swimwear from SHEIN. I *always* rave about its swimsuits, as the Ribbed Bikini Set ($11) and the Floral Print Carnival Bikini ($10) are two of my most-worn sets.

Oh, and SHEIN has some of the most adorable heels I own. Shop the Floral Rhinestone Chunky Heel Sandals ($13) — the best shoes ever — and the Rhinestone Clear Heeled Sandal ($23), the latter most ideal for your “Cinderella on vacation” moment.

Best Luxury/Splurge Vacation Brands

Cleobella

Cleobella
Pictured: Paula Midi Dress in Marrakesh Cleobella

Pros:

  • Photogenic, flattering styles
  • Incredible for dresses of all different lengths
  • Appeals to a variety of age groups

Cons:

  • The price point may be unreachable for some
  • Not much variety online, though new drops appear somewhat often

When your order is estimated to arrive: Three to five business days

If you’re in the mood to splurge, Cleobella is where it’s at. The Paula Midi Dress in Marrakesh ($268) is one of my favorites, much for its frilly detailing and flattering, feminine-leaning fit. Additionally, the brand remains entirely photogenic because of its summertime-ready patterns and carefully thought-out necklines.

The Marisse Mini Dress ($142) is another online gem. It gives “sunny resort vibes,” and it’s suitable for an evening dinner with a cocktail at the ready. For a vacation-leaning maxi dress, grab the Harris Ankle Dress ($278) to turn heads. Yes, the brand is a splurge but wholly worth it.

Anthropologie

Anthropologie
Pictured: Maaji Aria V-Neck Maxi Dress Anthropologie

Pros:

  • Beautiful resort wear
  • Eclectic prints, especially from in-house brands
  • Bohemian charm

Cons:

  • The price point may be unreachable for some
  • Inventory tends to sell out quickly

When your order is estimated to arrive: Four to eight business days

Listen, I’ve been a long-time fan of Anthropologie and you should be, too. Not only is it a dreamy destination for gifts but its roster of dresses, beachwear and more will have you desiring island time like no tomorrow.

One of my favorite pieces from Anthropologie is the Maaji Aria V-Neck Maxi Dress ($191). I’ll say it — this is one of my favorite brands ever from the retailer. Additionally, its pants are some of the best in the retail biz, with Maeve’s The Saria Smocked Wide-Leg Pants ($120) one of my favorites to wear to work and on vacation alike. Not to mention, they feel light-as-air, like walking on a cloud.

When I’m heading on vacation this year, I’ll be frolicking from day to night in the Farm Rio x Anthropologie Printed Halter Jumpsuit ($228) which evokes a “rainforest chic” vibe that’s ideal for any vacation destination, guaranteed.

And, if you’re seeking a tropical-printed bikini, the Beach Riot x Anthropologie Eva Bikini Top ($98) paired with the matching Emmy Bikini Bottoms ($98) are a match made in heaven that fit like a glove.

Best Brand for Beach Vacations

Lulus

Lulus
Pictured: Sunny Serenity Periwinkle Crochet Cutout Halter Midi Dress Lulus

Pros:

  • A fascinating assortment of dresses, swimwear and other beach-ready styles
  • Flattering color assortment
  • Great selection of accessories and shoes

Cons:

  • Some shorter and cropped pieces run small, so recommend sizing up for these items

When your order is estimated to arrive: Seven to eight business days

Since middle school, Lulus has been the online shop I’ve been resorting to. The brand touts an affordable luxury vibe and is the ultimate hotspot for beach vacations. A hotspot before heading to your hot spot, I should say.

The Sunny Serenity Periwinkle Crochet Cutout Halter Midi Dress ($69) is a style that’s certainly coming with me in my luggage. Everything from the color to the bodycon-style fit is eye-catching. The brand is also keen on floral pieces, so naturally, I had to order the Tropical Blooms Black Floral Print Tie-Back Cutout Maxi Dress ($69), too.

Lulus runs fairly true to size but be wary with mini dresses and skirts as well as anything that seems extremely cropped at the top. I’m a US 2 and find an XS is my perfect size, though I usually order a S for anything that seems like it runs a bit higher than usual.

The brand has a versatile array of swimwear with fun-printed and solid-toned bikinis, one-pieces and cover-ups. Its shoes and purses are equally as nice and you’ll surely want to hit up Lulus before your next beach vacation. Oh, and the lion’s share of the brand is coming with me on an upcoming beach vacation with two of my best friends, where we’ll be staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island in FL.

Best Vacation Brands for Swimwear

Cupshe

Cupshe
Pictured: Colorblock V-Neck Tri Top & Extra Cheeky Hipster Bikini Set Cupshe

Pros:

  • Affordable
  • Much variation among solid-toned and patterned sets
  • Plenty of cover-ups and accessories to choose from

Cons:

When your order is estimated to arrive: Five to seven business days

I’ve been ordering from Cupshe for years as it’s the most value-driven online shop to purchase any type of swimwear. Most times, I snag a top and a bottom for $30 collectively. Not $30 for each piece.

Not only is the brand affordable but the sets are some of the most flattering. The Colorblock V-Neck Tri Top & Extra Cheeky Hipster Bikini Set ($27) is one of my personal favorites for its balance of striking royal blue with a pop of neon. Its triangle top is the epitome of summer wear, too.

The Tie-Dye Wash Textured Scoop Neck Top & High Waist Bikini Set ($28) is another stay-in-the-sun combo that’ll give you plenty of compliments. This type of material is also extremely comfortable for all-day wear.

You shouldn’t skip Cupshe’s cover-ups, either. The Oversized Boat Neck Cut-Out Cover-Up ($29) is similar to a style I ordered from the brand years ago, and it’s still going strong.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A
Pictured: Gia Triangle Top – Painted Jungle EcoRib BT Vitamin A

Pros:

  • Unique prints that are both flattering and supportive
  • Quality fabrics
  • Traditional yet chic styles

Cons:

  • The price point may be unreachable for some

When your order is estimated to arrive: Three to five business days

Allow me to place Vitamin A on your radar. And no, we’re not talking about health supplements. Known for its rich roster of feel-good swims, the brand has endless patterns, shapes and sizes to snatch before all of your travels this year.

I’m color-obsessed with the Gia Triangle Top ($110) paired with the Elle Adjustable Tie Side Bottom ($110). I expected both pieces to run small but they’re very much true to size. For a classic style, I love the Cosmo Top ($110) coupled with the Cosmo Bottom ($110). It’s an investment to shop here but the pieces will last you for plenty of years of well-worn wear.

Best Vacation Brand for Sexy Outfits

Revolve

Revolve
Pictured: Michael Costello Annalie Long Midi Dress Revolve

Pros:

  • Wide expanse of designers to allow you to discover new favorites
  • Wonderful on-site shopping experience
  • Great selection for accessories and shoes

Cons:

  • Some pieces run fairly small

When your order is estimated to arrive: Two business days

Sure, plenty of brands and retailers on this list carry a few garments on the tastefully sexy side, but none does it up quite like Revolve. The trendy, influencer-beloved brand has a laundry list of designers to choose from with paramount accessories that look glittery and glossy in the light.

The Michael Costello Annalie Long Midi Dress ($198) is my all-time favorite piece Revolve has to offer, and that’s a bold statement. I love how its length is slightly exaggerated, falling right above my ankles and hugging me from all sides. The superdown Pearl Denim Jacket ($108) is another must-have layering piece that’s on the more affordable side compared to some other Revolve-featured fashions.

For some fun in the sun, why not opt for the Olga Berg Carlita Carnivale Clutch ($95) that is seriously so fun? The SHASHI Kasumi Hoop ($68) is one of the most intricately designed, pairs-well-with-everything earring shapes I own.

Best Vacation Brand for Matching Sets

Pink Lily

Pink Lily
Pictured: Keeping You Happy Pink and Orange Colorblock Gauze Two-Piece Set Pink Lily

Pros:

  • Adorable variety to choose from with a girly, feminine flair
  • Soft, well-made materials that are affordable
  • Stunning loungewear, especially

Cons:

When your order is estimated to arrive: Three to five business days

If you’re searching and searching for a brand that’s girly, cute and right off of Pinterest, Pink Lily is the brand I’m begging you to visit. It’s one of the best retailers for pretty much all things vacation, but it’s matching sets are particularly cozy, chic and cost-effective.

As is the case with the Keeping You Happy Pink and Orange Colorblock Gauze Two-Piece Set ($27). It’s a set I often live in these days when I’m lounging at home and a surefire pack-with-me item when I’m headed on a cruise this coming April — the Discovery Princess ship, to be exact.

More, its oversized tees are the ultimate beach cover-ups. The Find Me Under the Palms Purple Oversized Graphic Tee ($30) is one of the softest T-shirts I own, made perfectly by tying it into a knot and layering it over your favorite swimwear piece. I also can’t stop raving about the Under the Sun in Kaleidoscope Dreams One Piece Swimsuit ($46) and the Every Occasion Ombre Tank and Shorts Set ($54).

Simply put, the brand is well-priced and well-deserving of your online shopping spree.

Best Vacation Brand for Dresses

Show Me Your Mumu

Show Me Your Mumu
Pictured: Claire Mini Dress Show Me Your Mumu

Pros:

  • Home to iconic and delightful floral dresses, especially
  • Well-made materials
  • Versatile prints that suit a variety of occasions

Cons:

  • Price point may be unreachable for some
  • Some pieces are a bit more difficult to put on (corsets, tie-straps, etc.)

When your order is estimated to arrive: Two to seven business days

Splurge on Show Me Your Mumu for dresses and you won’t be sorry. The Claire Mini Dress ($168) makes me feel like I’m a rich mom on Nantucket standing in front of a hydrangea bush. It’s giving Blair from Gossip Girl and is ideal for every outdoor party, shower and date night you have on your calendar this year. That’s where I’ll be wearing it too, at least.

If you want a more formal option, maybe for a fancy vacation dinner or the summer event of the season, stop what you’re doing and buy the Juliet Maxi Dress ($378). It’s a lofty splurge but one that’ll turn heads. It may be one of my favorite dresses I own — another bold statement.

Moreover, the Saturday Skirt ($138) is another personal favorite that *technically* feels like a dress because it hugs you from your waist down. Spoiler alert: it’s fairly sheer, so keep that in mind before ordering.

Best Vacation Brand for Accessories

Lilly Pulitzer

Lily Pulitzer
Pictured: Via Flora Tassel Earrings Lily Pulitzer

Pros:

  • Well-made earrings and necklaces, especially
  • Resort-ready bags, sunglasses and other apparel add-ons
  • Some of the most beautiful patterns and prints worn

Cons:

  • Apparel skews to an older audience, though not a dealbreaker and is very much based on preference

When your order is estimated to arrive: Three to five business days

I adore the Via Flora Tassel Earrings ($58) to pair with bodysuits and other outfits for that signature “pop,” along with the Via Flora Necklace ($78) if you’re a lover of yellow gold and pearls.

If you’re on the market for some other essentials on your vacation checklist, don’t fret. The Dessa Cane Crossbody Bag ($148) is simply perfect as is the case with the Fabric Wrapped Claw Clip ($17) for when you’re getting your tan on. To summarize, thank you Lilly Pulitzer.

Best Vacation Brand for Shoes

Pelle Moda

Pelle Moda
Pictured: Kove Wedge — Latte/Beige Pelle Moda

Pros:

Cons:

  • Price point may be unreachable for some

When your order is estimated to arrive: Four to eight business days

Prepare to shop, because you’ll fall in love with Pelle Moda just like I did. Among dozens of heels I tested, this brand is the most comfortable for shoes. A standout pair that’s perfect for any age, any occasion is the Ciann Low Heel ($170) that’s clad with a classic and classy buckle detail.

I also love the Kove Wedge ($175), a similar look with a raffia-style bottom. There’s nothing better than a comfortable shoe that’s also chic, and Pelle Moda has that down pat.

There’s something about the Effi 4 Low Heel ($135) that’s giving vacation energy. Perhaps it’s the pastel color, or maybe it’s the heeled flip-flop design. Either way, they’re an investment worth making.

How we tested

Best Vacation Brands Review
My favorite place, the dress and vacation clothes closet, filled with top brands like Petal & Pup, Lulus, Show Me Your Mumu and more. Victoria Giardina

Though I’ve been playing dress-up on family vacations since I was three years old, I seriously began thinking about my vacation wardrobe about three years ago when I began my career in the commerce editorial industry, researching and reviewing top brands. As a general rule of thumb, here’s the criteria I kept in mind while testing out each brand:

  • Quality: First and foremost, fabric and how it feels is important. Sure, you get what you pay for, but I don’t want to be wearing anything uncomfortable. This is especially important for sweltering summertime vacations.
  • Price: This is totally up to preference but, for the most part, I love my $20 dresses just as much as my $200 ones. In my review, you’ll best understand the key brands that are truly worth the price — and for what type of wear.
  • Variety: Though also dependent on preference, it’s nice to visit an online shop and have a large sampling of dresses, skirts, tops, accessories and the like. Of course, if you’re shopping for say, bikinis, the online destination may only be for swimwear, but I made note of which brands offer more of that one-stop-shop feel.
  • Shipping: Plenty of brands offer express shipping in addition to standard ground, but you want to ensure the pieces are coming on time. This was taken into account as well.
  • Sellout risk: It’s *so* aggravating when you bookmark a certain vacation dress and then, before you know it, your size is out of stock the next day (*insert angry face emoji here*). While not a complete dealbreaker, it’s a factor I considered when ranking the best women’s vacation brands.
