Kaia Gerber and Austin Butler Have Rare Date Night as They Attend Broadway Show Opening

The couple spent a summer date night at the 'Oh, Mary' Broadway premiere

Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber hit the theater for their recent date night.

The Oscar nominee, 32, and Gerber, 22, were spotted at the Broadway premiere of Oh, Mary on Thursday, July 11, in New York City.

The couple was pictured in casual looks while enjoying their date night. The Elvis star was seen in a black baseball hat, a distressed gray T-shirt, a black sweater draped over his shoulders, slouchy black trousers and a pair of white sneakers.

As for Gerber, she also kept it casual. She wore a fitted cropped navy blue t-shirt, a midi striped gray and white skirt, and a pair of black leather knee-high boots. The Bottoms actress also sported a small black leather baguette purse. She kept her long brunette hairstyle in loose waves and a chic natural makeup look with a faint burgundy lipstick.

The couple attended Cole Escola's critically acclaimed comedy about former first lady Mary Todd Lincoln, which has moved from Off-Broadway to the Lyceum Theatre for a limited 12-week engagement.

Before their appearance at the play’s Broadway premiere, Butler and Gerber were last photographed on a date in New York in late May when they had a date night at Smalls Jazz Club in the West Village after dining at Waverly Inn nearby.

“Kaia and Austin are going strong," a source told PEOPLE in May. "They held hands the entire way to dinner and stopped and hugged a few times before going into a club [on May 24]. They definitely looked happy and in love.”

In February, the pair was seen holding hands as they arrived at the Dune: Part Two post-premiere bash at Old Sessions House in London.

The couple first sparked romance rumors in December 2021 and eventually went public with their relationship in March 2022 when they attended W Magazine's annual Best Performances party hand-in-hand ahead of the Oscars. Two months later, the pair attended their first Met Gala together.

Their relationship followed Gerber’s split from actor Jacob Elordi in November 2021. Meanwhile, Butler previously dated actress Vanessa Hudgens for eight years until they called it quits in 2020.
