It has been one year since the association was established in December 2022. With this addition, the number of participating companies and organizations has increased to 37, including 31 as of the end of October.

This technology, named OP, is a mechanism for providing a safe Internet environment and aims to become a "web standard" adopted by browsers and other devices. This technology provides verifiable information on the creators of online content and the senders of digital advertising, making it possible to identify trustworthy senders, thus establishing a system that allows Internet users to easily distinguish between high-quality media and content that has been verified by a third party, which will also help prevent the proliferation of fake news and ad fraud.

The Originator Profile Collaborative Innovation Partnership, under the supervision of the Keio University Cyber Civilization Research Center, is working with various stakeholders to develop OP specifications and test implementations in Japan, and is working toward web standardization and social implementation. Based on the knowledge gained from domestic research, the association has made proposals to the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), a web technology standardization organization, and aims to contribute to the development of a healthy Internet that people around the world can use with confidence.

A Comment from Jun Murai, Professor at Keio University and Chief Director of the OP Collaborative Innovation Partnership

"Our efforts to commercialize OP technology has been exactly one year since the establishment of OP Collaborative Innovation Partnership in December 2022. During this time, the number of participating organizations has reached 37, including major advertising agencies, major communications and IT companies, newspapers, broadcasting stations, and news agencies, and we have received support from a variety of sectors. As the negative aspects of the Internet become more prominent and become a major social issue, OP technology is attracting greater attention both domestically and internationally.

We will continue to call on even more stakeholders to join OP Collaborative Innovation Partnership, and aim not only to commercialize and implement OP technology in society, but also to make it an international standard in Internet technical specifications.

The OP that we are developing is a new technology that makes it possible to disclose information about content senders using a digitized code created by the content sender. Currently, various demonstration experiments are being conducted with the aim of practical application. If OP technology is implemented in society and its use spreads in the media and advertising, a healthy Internet space will be maintained, and as a result, it will be possible to increase public interest.

In the current situation where the trust of news is being damaged by the spread of harmful false information such as fake news, we hope that OP technology will not only make it possible to distinguish trustable media, but also contribute to the integrity of the digital advertising market, where inappropriate advertisements such as false advertisements are prominent in some areas.
