Tom Hanks’ son went to rehab for cocaine addiction

Tom Hanks’ rapper son has gotten sober after years of battling drug and alcohol abuse.

“I’ve been struggling with substance abuse since I was 16 years old,” Chet Haze wrote in a personal Instagram post, shared alongside a short video revealing his addiction to cocaine, earlier this month.

“Finally at the age of 24 I decided to get some help. With 50 days of sobriety under my belt, I can honestly say I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” he continued.

The 24-year-old said he decided to go public because a tabloid was about to run an article on his recent stint in rehab for cocaine addiction.

“It’s true,” Haze said in the video, which he shared prior to Star magazine’s report on Wednesday.

Haze then took a direct stab at the media, saying: “I don’t give a f–k what people think. F–k the media.”

In the lengthy caption accompanying the video, Haze said he’s been “blessed with the programs of AA and NA which allow me to rise above this disease. I’m learning to accept my faults and be ok with being human.”

He also thanked his famous family — consisting of Oscar winner Hanks, mom Rita Wilson and half-brother Colin Hanks — for their support.

In 2011, Haze admitted to Vice that so many of his lyrics were about smoking pot because, well, he smoked pot.

“I wanted to rap about something that I do,” he said. “I wouldn’t say that’s what my life is all about. It’s one aspect that I’m speaking about in a song. I’m not some caricature of a person who just drinks and smokes weed and parties all the time. I’m more complex than that.”
