Regis Philbin claims that he’s “never once” been asked to go back on “Live! With Kelly” — apparently forgetting that he was on the show with Kelly Ripa just over a year ago.
Regis, 85, claimed to Larry King that Ripa hadn’t said a word to him since he left the show six years ago because she was “very offended when I left.” Philbin added, “Never once did they ask me to go back [on the show].”
But actually, Regis appeared on “Live” during a Halloween special on Oct. 28, 2015. He and Kathie Lee filmed a dream sequence as themselves in 1992.
Kelly was seen warmly hugging Regis on the episode, and then inviting him over to her house to see her kids.
Philbin co-hosted “Live” for 28 years and Ripa joined him in 2000, co-hosting alongside him until he retired from the show in 2011.
ABC execs say Regis has been invited back several times and either declined or couldn’t make it
Dave Davis, president and general manager of WABC (which produces “Live! With Kelly”), said in a statement, “It was wonderful to have Regis on the show for our 2015 Halloween special. He’s also been invited back several times as a guest, and in fact was confirmed for a date, but was not able to make it at the time.”
