Olivia Munn ‘took hits’ for speaking out against Brett Ratner

Though Olivia Munn has since been praised for speaking out against Brett Ratner, there was a time the actress endured critical fallout for telling her story.

“It’s something that I privately dealt with for a long time, and something that came out publicly before, in 2011,” Munn, 37, told E! News Wednesday. “I had to take a lot of hits for that.

“The exhaustion back in 2011 of just trying to just get my name clear again as [Ratner] lied about me and all that stuff. At that time, I wasn’t trying to dethrone him or get him fired from anything. I just wanted to clear my name. That says a lot about what women put up with,” she continued.

Munn previously described Ratner’s behavior in her 2010 collection of essays, “Suck It, Wonder Woman!: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek.” She alleged the 48-year-old director masturbated in front of her on a film set in 2004 and the actress confirmed his identity at a later date.

In an exposé in the Los Angeles Times published in early November, Munn claimed she ran into Ratner at an agency party, the same year her book was released, where he allegedly bragged about ejaculating on magazine covers featuring her photos. Ratner later claimed he “banged” Munn, but retracted the comments during an appearance on “Howard Stern” in 2011.

Ratner “vehemently disputes” Munn’s allegations, per his attorney Marty Singer.

“I shouldn’t have to be completely broken, battered, and devalued in order to prove that he crossed a line,” Munn told the LA Times.

Ratner was accused of sexual misconduct by six women in the Times piece.

“It’s been great to see the outpouring of support and all the other women standing up together,” Munn said. “I’m just so proud that our voices matter right now.”
