Tyrese scores minor victory in ongoing custody battle with ex

Tyrese Gibson landed a minor victory in this legal battle with ex-wife Norma Gibson earlier this week.

On Monday, a judge placed limits on what child support expenses Norma can ask of the “Fast and the Furious,” reports “Entertainment Tonight.”

Docs obtained by the news program show that child care costs incurred by Norma while engaged in non-professional activities, like hiring a babysitter to run errands or “run her household,” are not considered reimbursable.

But that doesn’t mean the judge gave Tyrese everything he wanted, either. Child care costs related to work are not viewed the same, meaning Norma can ask the actor to pay her back for any caretaking costs she incurs while “developing her life coaching business, working on her book, and pursuing her art.”

The court also reportedly recommended, but did not require, that Norma “maintain a diary of time spent on work.”

Tyrese and Norma, who were married from 2007 to 2009, have been engaged in a nasty custody battle over their daughter, 11-year-old Shayla, since last year. In June, the actor asked for primary custody of their daughter.

Norma requested — and was ultimately denied — a restraining order against Tyrese, who she accused of allegedly beating their daughter. A judge ruled there wasn’t an ongoing pattern of harassment by the actor against her or their daughter.

Amid Tyrese and Norma’s fight over Shayla, the actor-musician announced he and his wife, Samantha, welcomed a daughter in October.
