How Peloton’s Ally Love is creating a ‘legendary’ wedding celebration
Peloton’s Ally Love just needs one word to describe her upcoming wedding to fiancé Andrew Haynes:
“Legendary. I’ll go one word,” the adored instructor and Love Squad founder recently told Page Six. “It’ll be legendary. Legends will be told about this wedding week — not just the day — the wedding week.”
Love, 34, who announced her engagement to Haynes in January, has teamed up with The Knot as part of the couple’s purposeful planning process, supporting women creators, BIPOC vendors, and a charity registry, which launched Monday.
“It was not only thinking, how can we plan an exceptional, legendary experience for a wedding week — not just the wedding day — but how can we continue to lean into what we believe, which is making sure we’re leaning into our intersectionality,” Love said.
“We know diversity, equity and inclusion is not just something that, it’s not a staple at a company or something that you talk about once a month or a couple of times throughout the year in those heritage or cultural movements, these are things that are actually part of our lives,” she continued.
To exemplify this, Love and Haynes highlighted women creators and BIPOC vendors as part of their registry.
“Not every family, not every culture has a registry, it’s not something that is actually a part of every wedding, so acknowledging the diversity of this experience with the registry was really important for us,” Love said.
Love and Haynes’ wedding registry also features cash funds, including one lifetime supply of Indian food from their favorite local restaurant, as well as an option for guests to donate to the Armour Dance Theatre via The Knot’s Charity Registry.
Love said she herself gained “so much out of this program,” noting it’s “truly the reason I was able to build my life and career” in New York.
“Getting married and having a wedding and paying for a wedding is a luxury, it is a privilege, and it is a privilege that I want to acknowledge and that I’m grateful for, but I also want to use that platform — we want to use our platform — to make sure we’re recognizing that,” Love said.
“On the flip side of that, this is us thoughtfully planning and saying, how can we continue to give back to those that have helped shaped our lives — and ultimately brought us to this point — and to celebrate our love in a most memorable capacity,” she continued.
While Love and Haynes are looking forward to celebrating the next chapter of their love story with their nearest and dearest soon, the Brooklyn Nets host also hopes her wedding day inspires opportunity for change from others.
“I think that these will be stories that will inspire, influence, and change the course of how people are going to look at their weddings,” Love said. “The individualistic attitude will somehow shift and say, you know what, in order for me to actually have the best time… for it to be ‘about me,’ I actually need to shine that light on other people because they’re making it about me and I need to make it about them.
“I think our wedding has an opportunity to create a rolling change in the community when it comes to creating a wedding when it comes to diversity, not only our friend group but again, leaning into those vendors and knowing that you don’t always have to go the traditional route, especially when it comes to registry,” she continued.
