Taylor Lautner’s wife, Tay, details breast cancer scare: ‘I felt this lump’ and ‘completely froze’

Taylor Lautner’s wife, Tay Lautner, experienced a breast cancer scare “a couple months ago.”

Though Tay is “fine” now, she detailed the “terrifying” ordeal on the most recent episode of her and Taylor’s “The Squeeze” podcast.

Tay, 27, explained that she was “home alone with the dogs” when she decided to take a shower.

“I’m showering, washing my body, soaping myself up and I felt this lump on my boob,” she recalled. “I kind of paused for a second and was like, ‘Wait, what?'”

Tay said she “pressed on it again” to get a better “feel,” quickly realizing that “there was this hard lump there.”

“I literally just stood in the shower and completely froze,” she went on, adding that she was “thinking every single thought in the world” at that moment.

Since Tay has “multiple friends” who have been affected directly or indirectly by the disease, she was on high alert.

“Feeling something that is foreign in your body, especially there, it was terrifying,” she lamented, admitting that she “immediately started bawling.” She said “both the dogs heard [her] crying and ran into the bathroom” to comfort her.

Tay finished up her shower as quickly as possible and got out. She felt she “couldn’t call” her husband because he was “in a meeting” and she didn’t want to “bug” him.

Tay revealed to Taylor that she then “propped [her] phone up and started recording” herself, explaining that she treated the video as a sort of “journal entry.”

When the “Twilight” star got home, Tay — who was “sobbing” — filled him in.

“I was terrified,” the actor, 32, confessed, “because it’s just hard for your mind not to go to the worst place.”

Though he was “freaking out,” Taylor tried to conceal his fear not to make Tay feel “any more worried.”

Tay immediately made an appointment with her gynecologist, who referred her to a breast center. While there, one of the specialists “did a little ultrasound” on her breast and “basically said everything was clear.”

The specialist explained that “sometimes these things just happen,” as breast “tissue can move around” because of changes in hormones.

“It’s still there to this day,” Tay said of the lump. “Hasn’t gone away.”

Taylor pointed out that the “weird and scary” part about the lump is that “you can only feel it going from one direction,” meaning “it could have been there for who knows how long.”

“Ladies,” Tay made sure to note, “this is your reminder to do the self-examination in the shower. If [breast cancer] runs in your family, there’s a lot of early screening that can happen.”
