Ray J's 2 Kids: All About Daughter Melody and Son Epik

Ray J is a proud father of two kids: daughter Melody and son Epik.

The singer and his estranged wife, reality star Princess Love, welcomed their first child, Melody, in 2018 and their second child, Epik, two years later.

In 2017, Ray J (​​né William Ray Norwood Jr.) shared on the daytime TV talk show The Real about his excitement for fatherhood. “Love is on my mind. Love is on my heart. Princess and I are expecting,” he revealed. “I want to have a little girl first because it's like daddy's little girl ... But whatever God blesses us with, I'm happy.”

Ray J and Love have experienced their fair share of ups and downs, including filing for divorce four times, the most recent in February 2024. Despite these changes, the singer has shared that the happiness of their children is his priority.

“I guess happiness is important, but for me, if my kids are happy, then I don’t care about happiness,” Ray J said on The Breakfast Club radio show in March 2024.

He shared the news on his Instagram, writing “Proudest DAD on the planet! Can’t explain the feeling — no words could mean it! I understand what parents feel now and why the love and bond is from God above!”

The "Sexy Can I" singer continued to express his overwhelming joy on social media, writing in the caption of another photo of him with his firstborn, “I love my daughter sooo much and I can’t thank God enough for giving this #blessing to @princesslove and me!!!”

The proud new dad even shared a video with OK! magazine that showed him just minutes after Melody was born. “I’m here with the love of my life. I love you. I’ll always be there for you. You’ll never have to want for nothing, baby," Ray J said in the clip.

On his first Father’s Day, the Celebrity Big Brother alum dropped a visual accompaniment to one of his 2005 tracks. The video featured behind-the-scenes footage of him and Princess at the hospital the day Melody was born.

Six years later, on his daughter's birthday, Ray J shared a photo on Instagram alongside a sweet tribute.

"MY HEART AND SOUL ... I cried so much full of love when you first entered this world!! — YOU FILL MY HEART UP WITH HAPPINESS EVERY MINUTE OF THE DAY!!" he wrote. "I WILL DO ANY AND EVERYTHING TO LOVE YOU EVERYDAY AND PROTECT YOU ... I’m truly blessed to be your dad!!"

Epik Ray Norwood, 4

A few months earlier, the couple shared family photos on Instagram announcing the pregnancy news alongside the caption, “Baby #2 on the way! @MelodyLoveNorwood your [sic] about to be a big sister!”

Ray J and Love also announced the sex of their second child on the singer's Instagram, via a video of a helicopter dropping down blue smoke. “We’re about to hop on the chopper. They’re going to lay down the smoke. It could be pink or blue,” he said beforehand. “We’re going to find out right now, way up in the air.”

The R&B icon often posts videos on Instagram of his kids playing together. In one 2023 clip, he expressed his gratitude, writing, “I love being a father!! Best blessing i ever had!! THANK YOU GOD!!”

Epik’s aunt, Brandy, shared her love for her nephew on Instagram for his 2nd birthday. “Happy Birthday little guy @epikraynorwood ♥️ you have brought so much unspeakable joy to our family," she wrote. "We love you so much. My favorite nephew. Love Auntie ♥️.”

Ray J also uploaded a since-deleted Instagram video in 2023 documenting his emotions after dropping his children off at school. “Man I was so emotional taking my kids to school for the first time. @princesslove - do other parents get this emotional?? Or is it just me??? #ILOVEMYKIDS," he shared.
