Stephen M. Silverman is the former founding editor of PEOPLE.com. He left PEOPLE in 2015.
He joined PEOPLE in 1995.
Before joining PEOPLE, Stephen was an adjunct professor at Columbia University from 1995 to 2004, a writer at Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., in 1993 and served as the chief entertainment writer at New York Post from 1977 to 1988.
Stephen has authored over a dozen books — including Public Spectacles, Dancing on the Ceiling: Stanley Donen and His Movies, Divas! The Fabulous Photography of Kenn Duncan and The Amusement Park: 900 Years of Thrills and Spills, and the Dreamers and Schemers Who Built Them.

He graduated with a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University in 1975 and a bachelor's degree in American history from the University of California, Irvine, in 1973.
