No matter your cup size, there's a wireless bra with your name on it

For a long time, wired bras were believed to be the only option for providing true support and life. Now, many of us (especially those who work from home) wouldn’t even dream of putting on a wired bra.

While underwire bras provide a rounded and lifted shape, wireless bras provide a more natural look and superior comfort. The best wireless bras even provide the same lift and support as a wired bra.

Experts Say

“Besides the comfort factor, wireless bras tend to look more natural and seamless underneath your clothing,” says Jodi Caden, the co-founder of the women’s undergarment brand Proof. “They’re great for transitioning from work to workout and beyond.”

We tested 34 of the most popular wireless bras on the market to determine which were the best. We evaluated every style, from push-up bras to lightweight bralettes to classic triangle bras, and put them on trial with the help of testers of all different bust sizes and needs.

Star Qualities
  • Provides plenty of comfort and coverage

  • Band is soft, strong, and supportive

  • Adjustable straps don’t dig into shoulders

Red Flags
  • May not offer enough support for large busts

  • Not enough nude shades for all skin tones

We tested the Wacoal T-Shirt Bra on several bust sizes and were impressed with the overall range of support it offers for small and DD busts alike. The wireless bra also boasts excellent coverage (which could factor into the support), and we love that it has a super soft band that is strong enough to hold us in place without digging or feeling too restrictive. The bra is constructed from a soft and silky nylon, polyester, and spandex material and features padded cups and adjustable straps.

While we like the pops of color, we wish this bra was available in more nude colors to complement a wider range of skin tones.

Star Qualities
  • Excellent coverage and support

  • Band and straps are super comfortable

  • Kept its shape after wearing and washing

  • Stretchy material hugs the body and offers support

Red Flags
  • Cup sizes only go up to D

  • Hand wash only

Warner’s Simply Perfect bra has a construction, fit, and feel that match some of its more luxe counterparts. After testing this bra, we were most impressed by its coverage, which contributes to its supportive fit, and we loved how comfortable the straps and band felt on the body. Made from stretchy polyester material, we found that this bra fits well without being restrictive and also hugs the body and busts in all the right places without digging in.

While we wish it was available in more cup sizes (and nude colors), we appreciate this bra for small to midsize busts and love it as a comfortable everyday option for wearing under T-shirts, blouses, and more.

Material: Polyester, elastane | Cup Range: A-D | Band Range: 34-40 | Colors: 7 | Adjustable Straps: Yes | Care: Hand wash, line dry or lay flat

Star Qualities
  • Superior comfort

  • Supportive for small busts

  • Provides lots of coverage

Red Flags
  • Not supportive enough for daily wear for larger busts

This bra was so comfortable, our tester (who wears a 34DDD) went to bed without remembering to take it off — and that’s pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to bra comfort. We loved the breathable and stretchy fabric that never dug into our skin, leaving a smooth appearance under clothes. This bra provides enough support for smaller busts, though our tester with a larger bust said she wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing it outside the home.

Material: Nylon, spandex | Size Range: S-4XL | Colors: 9 | Adjustable Straps: No | Care: Machine wash gentle, air dry

Star Qualities
  • One of the most supportive bras we tried

  • Great for active lifestyles

  • No digging, rolling, or discomfort

Red Flags
  • Only available in sizes 32C to 38G

We didn’t know a wireless bra could provide this much support. The Natori wireless bra has a wide band that provided great support without any discomfort. We were able to work, run errands, and even exercise in this bra without any complaints: no rolling, bending, or digging. This bra worked great for larger cup sizes, though we wish there were more options for band sizes since only sizes 32 through 38 are available.

Material: Nylon, elastane | Cup Range: C-G | Band Range: 32-38 | Colors: 2 | Adjustable Straps: Yes | Care: Hand wash, line dry

Star Qualities
  • Second-skin feel is both soft and comfortable

  • Adjustable straps and band provide a custom fit

Red Flags
  • We couldn’t find any

When it comes to bras for large busts, we were surprised by the amount of support the Soma Full-Coverage Wireless Unlined Bra provided when we first tried it. At first glance, the bra has a sports bra-like design, but take a closer look, and you’ll find adjustable straps for a more custom fit, an adjustable band, and an intentional design that offers plenty of support while remaining unlined, soft, and comfortable.

This bra is basically the best of both worlds and a cross between a bralette (that is actually supportive) and a traditional bra, which provides long-lasting comfort while making us feel held in under our clothes.

Material: Nylon, spandex | Cup Range: C-H | Band Range: 34-44 | Colors: 4 | Adjustable Straps: Yes | Care: Hand wash only

Star Qualities
  • Even more supportive than underwire bras

  • Slight lifting effect is great for large busts

  • Machine washable

Red Flags
  • Sizing can be tricky

After several wears, we found this Knix bra offers more support than our wired bra styles, especially since it provides busts with a little lift. Although the style is a little plunging in the front, the bra actually boasts excellent coverage on the cups and especially on the sides, which have a thick band.

While the bra sizing is a little different compared to traditional bras (definitely use the size chart when shopping!), we found that the overall fit was amazing and love the customizable fit.

Star Qualities
  • Designed to shape and sculpt the bust

  • Many adjustability features give a better fit

  • Amazing coverage, support, and comfort

  • Can be machine-washed on a gentle cycle

Red Flags
  • Doesn’t have molded cups, which some may prefer

We love the smoothing effect of the Chantelle C Magnifique bra and how well it shapes and sculpts the breasts. We found that the bra gave us the coverage and support of a wired bra without a wired bra’s discomfort. The bra fit well thanks to the adjustable band and straps, which allow for a more personalized fit. We loved that it doesn’t have molded cups and instead uses a lightweight construction to provide shape and support, but if you prefer padded cups, this might not be the bra for you.

Star Qualities
  • Provides excellent coverage

  • Supportive enough for everyday wear

  • Form-fits to the body without digging

Red Flags
  • Hand wash only

The Wacoal T-Shirt Bra boasts excellent coverage and an adjustable fit. The soft and lightweight bra form-fits the body, minimizing the bust without ever digging or feeling too restrictive. While the cups are thin, the bra still offers the necessary amount of coverage. We were most impressed by how well it supports busts while providing a natural shape — essential for a minimizer bra. Even after wearing it for several hours, we barely noticed it was on; however, we felt that it got more comfortable the more we wore and washed it, and it seemed to mold to our shape over time.

People

Star Qualities
  • Supportive, though not as supportive as wire bras

  • Straps and band are adjustable for added support

  • Super soft and comfortable material

Red Flags
  • Limited sizing

  • Hand wash only

The Lively wireless bra is made of a stretch nylon material that is soft to the touch and oh-so comfortable, making it perfect for everyday wear. Throughout the testing period, we found that the bra was only slightly less supportive than a wire bra, and we loved that the straps adjust in the front for easy modifications as needed. Plus, the straps and band never dug into our skin and left us feeling comfortable all day long.

While we wish the bra had more cup and band sizes offered, we think it does an amazing job at offering support, shape, and comfort to those within the size range.

Star Qualities
  • Provides excellent lift

  • Wide band provides extra support and comfort

  • Machine washable

Red Flags
  • We wish it was offered in more cup sizes beyond DD

The Aerie Real Sunnie Wireless Push-Up Bra provides a natural-looking lift that isn’t too over-the-top, making it a good push-up style for everyday wear. We were impressed with its overall coverage, which was much more compared to our wire bras. We also immediately noticed the thicker band, which provides lots of support and comfort while helping to lift and shape.

During testing, we found that the adjustable straps are comfortable and functional without ever digging into the skin or feeling too restrictive. We do wish it was available in more cup sizes (beyond DD) and would appreciate more skin tone color options, as well.

Star Qualities
  • Seamless design is almost invisible under a T-shirt

  • General sizing means if you fluctuate between cup sizes, it's no sweat

  • Lift level is customized to sizing

Red Flags
  • Hand wash only, but our editor washes it on a delicate cycle without issue

This T-shirt bra from Floatley is everything we need for a comfy day lounging or running errands in our favorite tee. One of our editors has been testing this bra for over three months, and it's become her go-to for pretty much every shirt that's not a tank top.

Editors Say

"As an early adopter of wireless bras, I'm very particular about the fit. I love this Floatley bra because it's seamless and fitted just enough to give me a little lift without daring to reveal any kind of cup gap under my favorite tee." — Erin Johnson, associate editorial director

While it's technically hand wash only, Johnson has had no issue when washing it on a delicate cycle and laying it flat to dry. As someone who fluctuates cup sizes, she also loves that the generic sizing makes it easy to order.

Material: Nylon, spandex | Size Range: S-2XL | Colors: 4 | Adjustable Straps: Yes | Care: Hand wash, lay flat to dry

Star Qualities
  • Super stretchy and soft material

  • Excellent size range up to 4X

  • Machine washable

Red Flags
  • Runs a little small, so we recommend sizing up

Lauded for its comfortable fit and stretchy material that goes on like second skin, the Skims Scoop Bralette has a casual yet functional design, good coverage, and a nice shaping effect.

While the bralette does run a little small (we recommend sizing up), we appreciate the inclusive sizing, which ranges from XXS to 4X — something we love about all Skims products. We also love that the bralette comes in so many different nude skin tones, plus some fun colors like neon green and hot pink.

Material: Polyamide, elastane | Size Range: XXS-4X | Colors: 14 | Adjustable Straps: Yes | Care: Machine wash cold

Star Qualities
  • Super stretchy material means a comfortable fit

  • Provides enough support for light activity

  • Least expensive on our list

Red Flags
  • Some may prefer more lining for coverage

  • Runs small

This is one of the most comfortable bras we’ve ever worn. The stretchy material meant we didn’t feel like we were wearing a bra at all, and we didn’t experience any digging or rolling. This bra is perfect for light activities like housework and errands, though it might not provide enough support for the office or a more active lifestyle. Definitely size up, since our tester (and online reviewers) found their true size to be a bit tight.

Best for Small Busts

Cuup The Wireless Plunge

Star Qualities
  • Gives a little lift despite not being padded

  • Provides great coverage and support for small busts

  • Modal fabric is soft and comfortable for all-day wear

Red Flags
  • Not secure enough for larger busts

Our tester, who doesn’t really like bras, is calling the Cuup wireless bra her only exception. The bra gives the bust a lift without padding while also staying comfortable all day. The fabric is super soft, and the adjustable fit meant we didn’t experience any digging or discomfort. Our tester with a larger bust found that the bra wasn’t secure enough to keep things in place during mild activity, so this pick is probably best for those with smaller busts.

Material: Modal, spandex | Cup Range: A–G | Band Range: 30–42 | Colors: 4 | Adjustable Straps: Yes | Care: Hand wash cold, lay flat dry

Star Qualities
  • Supportive and compressing enough for workouts

  • Super comfortable wear over long periods of time

  • Provides more coverage than a traditional bra

Red Flags
  • Bulkier than typical bralettes

If you’re looking for a bra that’s equally comfortable whether you’re running errands, in the office, or working out, the Bali wireless bra is an excellent choice. The bra features a thick band and straps, making it a more compressive fit that works great for workouts. The bra also gave us more coverage than a traditional bra and stayed comfortable all day. However, it was bulkier than others on our list, so it might not work under thin T-shirts.

Material: Nylon, spandex | Size Range: S-3XL | Colors: 13 | Adjustable Straps: No | Care: Hand wash only

Star Qualities
  • Provides light support despite lack of lining

  • Adjustable straps provide a customized fit

  • Wireless boning gives structure

Red Flags
  • Some may find the boning uncomfortable

The Savage x Fenty bralette puts a unique spin on an unlined bra with light boning that shapes the bust. While some might find this uncomfortable, our tester with a larger bust thought this boning ensured necessary support. We appreciated the adjustable straps, which helped give a personalized fit, along with the soft fabric that kept us comfortable all day.

Material: Nylon, elastane | Size Range: XS-4X | Colors: 4 | Adjustable Straps: Yes | Care: Hand wash only

Star Qualities
  • Several nude shades to suit every skin tone

  • Durable material that won’t pill

  • Adjustable straps for a personalized fit

Red Flags
  • Tricky sizing meant we had to reorder to find our size

  • We wish it had a thicker band for more support

The Skims T-Shirt Bra offers 10 different nude shades, a stark contrast to many nude bras that only accommodate light skin tones. We were also impressed by the sizing, which accommodates bands up to 46 inches, although the cup range is not as impressive.

The fabric is as exceptionally soft as it is durable, holding up after several washes. The adjustable straps helped us find our perfect fit, though we were hoping for a tighter band for a bit more support. It was tricky to find the right size, so be sure to consult the size guide and reviews to find the perfect fit.

Other Wireless Bras We Tried

  • Honeylove CrossOver Bra: This bra was actually more supportive than many underwire bras we’ve tried, and we loved the convertible straps that allowed us to style this bra under different outfits. We wished this bra offered more sizing options — while it’s available in sizes XS through 3XL, we didn’t feel this sizing was precise enough to guarantee a good fit.
  • Hanes SmoothTec Wireless Bra: This bra didn’t impress us enough to make our best list, but it's worth noting as an option for wearing with pajamas or loungewear. The bra is unlined so there’s not much to it in terms of shaping and support (no adjustable straps, either); however, it provides a nice, comfortable layer for lounging. Additionally, it features a hook and eye closure band for a more customized fit — which you don’t typically see from this bralette style.
  • Maidenform Pure Comfort Soft Support Lace Bralette: The Maidenform Pure Comfort Soft Support Lace Bralette didn’t quite knock it out of the park in the way the others did but still deserves a mention. It features a beautiful lace design with adjustable and convertible straps that allow you to customize the fit and style. It’s also made from recycled nylon with plenty of comfortable stretch. Although we loved this bra and found it was comfortable for everyday wear, we thought the sizing could be a little more inclusive (it’s only available in S to XXL).

What to Know About Wireless Bras

Sizing and Fit

According to Jené Luciani Sena, bra expert and the bestselling author of The Bra Book, wireless bras are often alpha-sized, meaning they come in small, medium, large, and so on. “That makes it a bit tougher to get the perfect fit,” she notes.

When shopping for bras online — regardless of the type of sizing — it helps to look at the brand or product’s sizing chart to get a better idea of the measurements, cup range, and band range. Additionally, if you know that straps are usually a fit challenge, selecting a wireless bra with adjustable straps can make a world of difference.

Style

Wireless bras also come in a variety of styles, which include pullover options, like the Skims Fits Everybody Scoop Bralette, as well as one with clasps in the back (much like a traditional bra design), like the Aerie Sunnie Wireless Push-Up Bra. They also come lined or unlined, so it’s important to consider your preference when narrowing down your wireless bra selections. “Unlined will often have seams on the cup, which may show through clothes but help support the cup and keep it from collapsing in lieu of an underwire,” Luciani Sena explains.

Stretch

In the world of wireless bras, stretch is a double-edged sword. “The more a bra stretches, the less supportive it will be,” says bra expert Laura Tempesta. “But the more it stretches, the more comfortable it will be." With that in mind, you’ll want to consider the overall stretch and your support requirements when shopping for a wireless bra. If you're looking for something that functions more as a piece of shapewear, then too much stretch can compromise its smoothing and shaping capabilities.

Behind the Scenes

To find the best wireless bras on the market, the PEOPLE Tested team researched dozens of options before testing 34 styles. We evaluated each style based on a variety of categories.

  • Fit: The best bras fit well and provide ample coverage, keeping everything in place. Bras with adjustable bands and straps often came out on top, thanks to a more personalized fit.
  • Versatility: We also tested the bras under a variety of clothes to see how versatile they are for everyday wear.
  • Support: We ensured that each bra on this list was supportive enough for daily activities. The best of the best were as supportive as a wired bra, if not more so.
  • Comfort: Wireless bras should provide ample comfort, especially in comparison to wired bras. Our favorites were comfortable enough to wear all day, with no digging or rolling.
  • Quality: We made sure each bra was high-quality enough to withstand frequent wear and washing, with no pilling, stretching, or other damage.
  • Value: After two weeks of testing and taking extensive notes on our experiences, we compiled our insights together to see which wireless bras made the cut, which ones were still worth mentioning, and which ones we didn’t recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the most comfortable and supportive wireless bra?

All wireless bras on our list of top picks are comfortable and supportive, however, there are a couple that stand out more than others. Our top pick for the best wireless bra, the Wacoal Comfort First Wire-Free T-Shirt Bra, boasts an ultra-comfortable fit while also providing support thanks to its soft memory foam cups and ultra-soft material that hugs the body without pinching. The Shapermint Wireless Bra was the most comfortable we found — we even fell asleep in it!

  • Which bra brand is most comfortable?

There are many options for comfortable bra brands, however, our favorites for wireless bras include Wacoal, Lively, Skims, and Aerie for options that have a second-skin feel and provide enough support for a range of cup sizes. Our best overall pick, the Wacoal Comfort First Wire-Free T-Shirt Bra, features an ultra-soft material that wraps around the body without pinching and super comfortable memory foam cups that provide slight shaping and support.

  • How many bras should you have?

When it comes to bra count, Tempesta says this varies greatly depending on the person, their lifestyle, and their needs. That being said, she recommends having an array of different bras on hand for several uses. First, she says three to four bras for everyday wear is a good idea since “having a few everyday bras will ensure the elastics don’t get stretched out as quickly.”

From there, she says to keep two to three low-support bras (like bralettes) on hand for lounging or low-impact activities. Depending on how often someone works out, she says at least one medium support and one high support sports bra can come in handy — though if you work out often, she recommends buying more as you’ll need to wash them after every use. In addition to these bra types, Tempesta says having one good strapless bra is ideal for special occasion outfits where bra straps may be an issue.

  • What is the best wireless bra for heavy breasts?

The best wireless bra for large busts is the Soma Full-Coverage Wireless Unlined Bra. This bra has a lot of lift and support and is available in cups sizes C through H with a band range of 34 to 44.

When shopping for a bra for large busts, Tempesta says to look for wireless bra styles that have a wider back and under-band. “The wider the bottom underband is and the higher the back of the bra sits, the more comfortable it will be,” she explains, noting that the support comes from the underband, not the straps.
