Lorde on 'Big Brother' Diplo After He Insulted BFF Taylor Swift: All Good Now

The singer defends her friend from what she calls "body-shaming" on her Twitter feed

Lorde came to pal Taylor Swift‘s defense after DJ-producer Diplo may have insulted the 1989 artist – but the “Team” singer says they’ve already shaken it off.

The body-shaming shade-fest began Nov. 12 when Diplo (aka Thomas Wesley Pentz) Tweeted, “Someone should make a kickstarter to get taylor swift a booty.” Shortly after, one of the musician’s fans actually created a “Get Taylor Swift a Booty” fundraiser on a crowd-funding site. But Lorde jumped to pal Swift’s defense, Tweeting: “@diplo should we do something about your tiny penis while we’re at it hm.” (The singer eventually removed the Tweet from her feed.)

“I love Wes, and he’s a big brother to me and one of my first friends in the industry,” Lorde recently told Fader about the Twitter battle. “And part of having a friendship like that is not letting them say stupid s—.”

Diplo – who has been linked romantically to Swift’s reported frenemy Katy Perry – recently collaborated with Lorde on The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack, which she curated: the DJ and his producing partner, Major Lazer, collaborated with Ariana Grande on “"All My Love." But despite their social media scuffle, all appears to be good.

“Taylor’s my friend as well, and I’m a girl, and if I see some weird body-shaming on my feed I’m going to be like, ‘Hey man,’ ” she said. “We do still love each other, hopefully.”

Diplo hasn’t publicly apologized for the jabs yet, but Lorde says Swift’s reaction (of not having one) is admirable.

“She’s probably the most graceful person at being famous that I’ve seen,” Lorde said of her friend. “You never want to be the kind of person who is like, ‘It’s really hard sometimes!’ What we do is awesome. It’s f—— amazing. You can’t not feel lucky, can’t not feel hashtag-blessed. She’s really good at being aware of that, and whenever I’m struggling with something … I remember her way of thinking about it. You can’t have something this awesome without it also being challenging.”
