Chrissy Teigen's Summer Essentials Include a Now-$50 Portable Speaker and the Sneakers She Wears 'Every Single Day'

On an overcast day in New York City, Chrissy Teigen kicked off summer at the Empire State Building, celebrating the return of JBLFest — a series of live music events around the city, featuring artists like Two Friends and Madison Beer. 

PEOPLE caught up with Teigen following the event to see what else she’s excited about this summer: The walking shoes she’ll be wearing on repeat, the tech she’ll be using for seasonal soirees, and the beauty and skincare hacks that will keep her glowing from day to night.

Teigen often strolls down the sidewalk in Los Angeles to pick up her kids after work, during which she attaches her JBL Clip portable speaker to her jeans or stroller and plays music aloud. The mom of four jokes that there’s little foot traffic since “nobody in L.A. really walks anyway” so she isn’t bothering anyone. 

“It’s just a really nice way to cruise along the streets,” Teigen says. She adds that this was the hero product that introduced her to JBL, which led to her ongoing partnership with the brand. “It’s so easy. I hook it on the jacket hook in cars and stuff. I bring it everywhere I go.”

Loved01 Exfoliating Cleanser

With sun rays out for longer hours, summer is a crucial time for taking care of your skin. “I use John’s Loved01 Exfoliating Wash,” says Teigen. “I love using it around my T-zone, on my chin, [and] around my nose.”

The gentle formula has ingredients like rosehip oil and aloe vera that are kind to sensitive skin. “I do like a half-and-half blend of my regular face wash and that exfoliating wash, just to get the beads in there, and it adds a nice scrub to the face wash,” she says.

JBL Party Box 320 Speaker

“I think everybody knows we don’t leave the house much,” Teigen jokes. “So, we like to bring the party to ourselves, and keep it in the house.” When she throws parties with husband John Legend, she says they have “such great memories dancing and singing along” with the [JBL] Party Box. “It is a major thing for us.”

Despite its large size, the latest iteration of the JBL Party Box is actually quite portable with wheels and a luggage-like handlebar. And it’s splashproof, so whether the drinks are flowing at a barbecue or tailgate, or it sprinkles on your beach day, the party can continue. 

“I introduced Luna to ‘If I Were a Boy’ on the JBL Party Box, and she just rocks out to it.” She recalls showing her daughter the music video and telling her about the song’s meaning for the first time. “It was such a special, awesome moment. We love belting out that song together.” Teigen says ‘Love on Top’ is another family favorite: “especially the last part where she just goes up and up and up. We just scream it. We go crazy.”

“They do like 10-foot by 10-foot [and] 20-foot by 20-foot. They do enormous, [yet] light blankets that are great for our Girl Scout outings and our school trips, or just [hanging] in the backyard with the babies.” Since these blankets aren’t thick, “the grass or sand or whatever you use it on brushes off nicely,” she says, adding that “they have really cute colors and prints.”

Orly First Kiss Gel Nail Polish

Teigen suggests this Orly Gel Polish since it’s just “a really pretty nail polish for summer” and notes that she’s “very loyal to it.” She uses the polish over an acrylic base on her nails and gets “so many compliments on it, and it just goes with absolutely everything.”

APL TechLoom Bliss Slip-On Sneakers

We already knew that Teigen loves her APL Slip-Ons: a shoe affair she shares with our staff. “They come in really beautiful, bright colors,” she says, noting that her favorites are her white and coral pairs. “I wear them every single day of my life, and I’m obsessed with them.”

JBL Tour Pro 2 Headphones

Teigen also loves these headphones’ noise-canceling capabilities. She says they’re “of course nice to bring on the airplane, or if you just need some time to yourself upstairs away from your children,” they can provide a moment of peace as well.

Cravings by Chrissy Teigen Heavenly Coconut Key Lime Cake Mix

The Cravings author also just released a key lime coconut cake, which she calls “fantastic.”

“It just screams spring and summer,” she says. “It has this beautiful, vibrant green color. And it’s tart… but it’s mellowed out by this coconut cream glaze that goes on top. The glaze just spreads out so nicely, and drips down the sides.” Teigen says the Cravings team “tested it for many months” and is “so proud of it.”

Benefit Cosmetics Chachatint Cheek + Lip Stain

“I’m very loyal to my Benefit Lip Tint,” she says of this cheek and lip color that she’s been a fan of since high school. “It kind of looks like a nail polish bottle, and I use the coral one.”

“It brushes on, and I use it on my lips in the morning, even if I have a total makeup-free day. I apply this every morning religiously just to give my lips a little bit of color and to make me look awake and alert,” she says.

Aquaphor Lip Repair

Teigen also uses “plain old Aquaphor” around “15 times a day.” She added: “It’s the only thing that’s like my standby, go-to, always have it in my pocket.” She loves that it “doesn’t dry [her] lips out more” and that “it just feels good.”

Aquaphor is likely a constant in many of our Amazon carts, but when asked what’s in hers, Teigen laughed. Between Hot Wheels for Miles’ birthday and a Below Deck spoof video she planned with her kids — “I bought the ear pieces and the microphones that they use, and the walkie-talkies” — her cart has lots of interesting finds. “Melissa and Doug products are always in my cart, [too],” she says, “like wooden kids’ toys."
