Ellen DeGeneres has returned to her stand-up roots!
On Thursday, the former The Ellen DeGeneres Show host — who got her start in stand-up comedy — took the stage at the Largo in Los Angeles to perform a surprise set in Beth Stelling’s "Beth & Pals" show.
DeGeneres, 66, joined Stelling’s already star-studded lineup of comedians, who included Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman, Aidy Bryant, Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein, Alana Johnston and Nthenya From Kenya.
DeGeneres was already buzzing with excitement when she arrived at the L.A. venue with wife Portia de Rossi, a video she shared on Instagram shows.
In the clip, the couple hops out of a car and DeGeneres throws her hands up and yells, “Here we are!”
The comedian then headed backstage, where she mingled with some of the other comedians before Stelling introduced her, telling the unsuspecting audience to “please make it loud for Ellen DeGeneres!"
And the crowd obliged. Taking the stage in a classic Ellen look — a moto jacket, jeans and sneakers — DeGeneres walked out to a huge round of applause, with some audience members even leaping from their seats.

Clips shared by DeGeneres and The Ellen DeGeneres Show on social media cut off just before her actual set began, but fans will see it "soon enough," DeGeneres teased.
“Ellen got to do something she's wanted to get back to for a long time. Thanks to Largo and Beth Stelling for letting her go up,” the YouTube video description reads. “She can’t show you any of it now, but you’ll see it soon enough.”

And while DeGeneres did not confirm whether her surprise performance was the start of a full-on stand-up comeback, the Largo did hint that fans of the comedian can expect new material soon.
“Ellen DeGeneres just made a return to the stage, which means the world is in store for new work from this all-time great,” the venue wrote in an Instagram post.
