'The Bachelorette' 's Mike Johnson to Host New Food-Focused Digital Short Series 'That Looks Good'

Mike Johnson is flexing his knack for kitchen knowledge!

The former Bachelorette contestant, 33, is set to host a new digital short series for FOX that, according to a release, will see him "celebrate select culinary holidays with viewers by sharing the history of the food and some fun facts, all while eating great meals."

"Inspired by the hundreds of food and beverage holidays throughout the year, That Looks Good is here to help make sure the true meaning of the holiday does not get lost," the release adds of the new offering.

Presented by Taste of FOX, That Looks Good will comprise five episodes dropping monthly.

The first, in which Johnson celebrates National Bagel Day, will air on Friday on Taste of FOX's YouTube channel and Instagram.

Johnson — a fan-favorite suitor of Hannah Brown during the 15th season of The Bachelorette, who went on to compete on Bachelor in Paradise — opened up to PEOPLE in October about this season of The Bachelor, airing now.

According to Johnson, the newest Bachelor, Matt James, approached him for advice after James was selected as a contestant on Clare Crawley's season of The Bachelorette (which notably turned into Tayshia Adams' season after a few episodes).

"I gave him advice about remembering to treat a girl how your mother taught you to treat women," Johnson said. "And then of course, your shirt's going to be off at some point in time, so I told him to make sure you have a better body than [James' roommate and Brown's runner-up] Tyler [Cameron]!"

Johnson himself was a popular contender among fans to become the first Black Bachelor. He told Variety in August that he was "never given a reason" as to why he was not picked to be the lead, but that he did have conversations with ABC about the significance of him taking on the role. (Another contestant from Johnson's Bachelorette season, Peter Weber, was chosen as The Bachelor for the season before James'.)

Johnson has certainly had a busy few months, between his new food-focused digital series with FOX and the October release of his debut book, Making the Love You Want.

The book is part memoir, part self-help roadmap, in which the former reality star guides readers on how to cultivate and maintain self-love for a happier, healthier life.

Johnson wrote the book over the course of six months in 2019, often waking up in the middle of the night to jot down thoughts and working with the occasional glass of wine. "I was able to be more vulnerable because if I thought the world was asleep, no one would hear my thoughts," he told PEOPLE in October.

That transparency, he hopes, will help him connect with fans on a deeper level. "I'm so much more than an individual who was on a TV show to find love, or a smile," Johnson said. "I lived a life before and after the show, and I hope this book will give a great insight into who I am."
