Golden Bachelor's Gerry Turner Declares Indiana 'Not That Bad' After Splitting with Theresa Over Living Arrangements

In April, Turner and his ex-wife, Theresa Nist, announced their decision to divorce after debating where they would permanently reside

Gerry Turner thinks Indiana has a lot to offer whether or not everyone agrees.

On Sunday, June 23, the Golden Bachelor alum, 72, shared a series of photos on Instagram from his weekend on the lake by his Indiana home.

While posing alongside family and friends, Turner could be seen wearing a t-shirt that read, "Indiana, it's not that bad!" Other pictures in the carousel included shots of the reality star smiling with friends and enjoying the sun.

"The Annual Poker Run on Big Long Lake shows the best of Indiana culture," he captioned the post. "Great friends coming together for fun and fundraising. Creative and hilarious Poker stops. Renewed friendships and a few adult beverages. Best lake day of the summer."

Turner's quippy t-shirt post comes two months after he and his ex-wife, Theresa Nist — who won his heart on The Golden Bachelor — announced their decision to divorce after three months of marriage. After a long deliberation about where they would permanently reside, they ultimately decided to part ways.

"Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we've looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we've kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it's probably time for us to dissolve our marriage," Turner explained on a joint appearance on Good Morning America.

Despite their previous claims that they were “100% committed” to making their marriage work, Turner and Nist said distance ultimately became an issue. While Turner lives in Indiana, Nist lives in New Jersey.

The couple said they looked for homes in South Carolina, but simply never found a place to land together. Turner and Nist suggested they did not fall out of love, claiming they are "best friends" and plan to remain each other’s lives.

Shortly after the news of their divorce broke, Turner's daughter, Angie, addressed the backlash her family had received for the breakup.

“I love how invested people were in the show, what an experience to have you along for the ride!” she wrote at the time. “What has been disheartening is the level of rage and cruelty that our family has been met with.”

Angie continued, “My Dad and Theresa are kind, good people that made this decision for them, no one else. I kindly urge everyone to remember that behind every story, there are real people with real feelings.”
