The talk show host isn't shy about her side gig, which she told PEOPLE in 2015 is, "really a genuine passion of mine, not just a business venture." DeGeneres has purchased more than a dozen houses (and sold nearly as many) in the past 20+ years, and doesn't plan on slowing down. "We are having a hard time staying put," she said in the feature of her and wife Portia de Rossi's itch to design. "I keep trying to find a better home. But I'm happy. This is what I love to do."

In early 2022, the star listed a home in Montecito, Calif. that she purchased just a few months earlier in September 2021 and gave a design refresh. She purchased it for $12 million, according to property records, and put it up for sale for $13.9 million.

The Maroon 5 frontman and his wife Behati Prinsloo recently joined the Hollywood house flippers club when they listed a Beverly Hills home for $47.5 million just one year after purchasing it. According to TMZ, the couple bought the 10,000-square-foot home, which has 12 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms, for $35.5 million. They reportedly invested $7 million to renovate the property.

The Grammy winner purchased and restored this Brentwood home in 2016. The historic 2,620-square foot property is now on the market for $3.75 million and includes a mudroom, renovated master bath and hidden studio space with vaulted ceilings.

OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder and his wife Genevieve restored and expanded this midcentury-modern mansion in Beverly Hills and have now listed it for $12.75 million. In the two years the couple owned the property, they added a bedroom, family room and three-car garage to the 1959-build's original floor plan, resulting in a total of 5,386 square feet.

After unloading the Brentwood estate he shared with ex Jennifer Meyer less than a year after buying it, Maguire also recently sold his Santa Monica, California, compound after owning it for only a year. According to Trulia, the actor worked with architect Ruben Ojeda to renovate his most recent home, raising the ceilings, updating the kitchen and even building a second story addition with an outdoor living space.

Diane Keaton specializes in historic renovations, with one of her flips that she reportedly picked up for around $8.1 million selling to Glee's Ryan Murphy for $10 million, according to Forbes. She's also penned a book on Spanish and Mission-style architecture and a coffee table tome simply titled House.

After picking up this property in 2014 for $2.5 million, Dancing with the Stars' Mark Ballas recently listed the Los Angeles home for $4.3 million after giving it a top-bottom renovation. Ballas had also teamed up with DWTS' Derek Hough for a four-episode HGTV special in which the pair renovated an additional home for profit.

Jeremy Renner is following in Ellen's footsteps. The actor has bought and remodeled more than 20 homes in the past 15 years, ranging from large-scale mansions to cozy cabins, according to Bloomberg. "There's a lot of great old architecture out there," he told the website. "You just have to reimagine it with today's living standards."

Nate Berkus and husband Jeremiah Brent are no strangers to design. The couple recently purchased a home to remodel as a way to satisfy their design addiction without having it "disrupt their daily lives," Berkus recently told PEOPLE. In Semptember of 2016, the designer also admitted that he and Brent, along with daughter Poppy, have lived in five houses in the last 18 months.

Robert Van Winkle AKA Vanilla Ice told the Wall Street Journal that he likes to inject "flavor" into the homes he builds and renovates for his lucrative side gig. For one of his properties in Florida, the rapper reportedly installed an infinity pool with glow-in-the-dark tiles, a 250-foot lakefront beach with sand from Key West, a swim-up bar and a Jacuzzi that fits 25. His improvements reportedly increased its worth from $630,000 to somewhere between $1.5-$2 million.
