Ione Skye's Memoir Looks Back With 'Clarity and Compassion' (Exclusive)

Ione Skye has something to say.

The Say Anything actress is releasing a memoir, aptly titled Say Everything: A Memoir, which will reflect on her life in Hollywood.

In the upcoming book, Skye, 53, "reveals and reflects upon her messy, glamorous and unapologetically unconventional life," according to a press release.

"The daughter of a magnetic ‘60’s It Girl and the folk-singing legend Donovan," the statement continues, "Skye chased her absent father’s approval throughout her life and sought warmth through infatuations and affairs with some of the brightest film stars, indie darlings and musicians of the time."

The memoir promises to be a "vulnerable and cinematic account" of Skye learning to accept herself, reconciling with her father and celebrating her life.

"As an actress, thinking of my life as a drama helped me keep the painful parts at a distance," Ione Skye said, in a press release.

"Now, as an author, I am able to reconnect with the young woman I was and re-examine my life fully, with clarity and compassion."

Skye made her movie debut with River's Edge in 1986, starring alongside Keanu Reeves. She is perhaps best known for her performance as John Cusack's love interest in Say Anything, which her memoir is named after.

She appeared in many television shows and films throughout her career, including Zodiac, Wayne’s World, Fever Pitch, Arrested Development, Camping, Good Girls and Beef.

In addition to acting, Skye has been painting and exhibiting her work for over 25 years. She co-hosts the weekly podcast Weird Together with her husband Australian singer-songwriter Ben Lee.

She previously wrote the children's story My Yiddish Vacation in 2014.

Skye, who is the mother of two daughters, married Lee in 2009. They now live in Los Angeles.
