Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good are sharing what keeps their relationship solid.

The couple attended the Frederick Douglass Awards Thursday night, June 6, two months after his sentencing.

They posed together at the New York Urban League’s annual event, at which Good was an honorary co-chair due to her work in philanthropy and performance in Prime Video’s Harlem. Good, 42, stepped out in a sleek black skirt with a sheer top and a statement necklace, while Majors, 34, opted for an all-black look made complete with a knee-length buttoned-up jacket.

Good and Majors opened up to PEOPLE on the red carpet about how they're supporting each other.

"Presence," Majors said, which Good echoed.

The Divorce in the Black actress added, "Being present with life. It's an interesting thing, life. We have to be present in the moment, right now."

She added that she's learned to stay positive and "just dance no matter what. Rather it's raining, rather it's shining no matter what. This is a moment in life that we never ever get back. We never get this day, we never get this time. We get this in a minute, making everything worth it."

Majors also noted that "learning" is also an important aspect of how the couple stay strong.

As for how they're making the most of their summer plans, Good says they're celebrating a few loved ones' birthdays and visiting her father in Hawaii.

PEOPLE previously confirmed the couple were dating in May 2023 and they made their red carpet debut in March 2024.

Good stood by Majors' side as the Creed III actor went on trial for a domestic violence incident involving his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.

The pair were photographed together multiple times during the legal process in which Majors was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment and not guilty of misdemeanor assault in the third degree with intent to cause physical injury and misdemeanor aggravated harassment in the second degree.

In April, the actor was sentenced to one year of an in-person batterers intervention program in Los Angeles.

During the Gala, attendees raised money toward the theme “Fight Today. Change Tomorrow: Voting & Civic Engagement” and to support the Urban League’s ongoing work to “enable African Americans and other underserved ethnic communities to secure a first-class education, economic self-reliance, and equal respect of their civil rights through programs, services and advocacy.”

The event honored Aurora James, George Gresham, Camile Joseph-Goldman and Renee McClure.
