'Terminator: Dark Fate' Star Mackenzie Davis Named New Ambassador of One Girl Can Charity

Before she hits theaters in Terminator: Dark Fate, Canadian actress Mackenzie Davis is working to do some good in the world.

Davis, 32, has been named the new ambassador for One Girl Can, a Canadian registered charity whose missions it is to empower girls in Kenya and Uganda through education.

“I’ve been lucky enough to witness One Girl Can’s entire evolution and growth, from the very beginning where the goal was simply to help build and rehabilitate girls’ schools in rural Kenya and Uganda, to its current iteration as a committed secondary and university scholarship and mentorship program,” she said in a statement.

“One Girl Can is committed to supporting and challenging each girl in the program, and to reinforcing their ambition and drive,” Mackenzie continued. “I am grateful and excited to enter into a more involved role with this organization, and to work alongside my mother, the woman that encouraged me to be ambitious and driven and curious my entire life.”

Since it started, One Girl Can has mentored 6,000 students annually, provided 654 scholarships and completed the construction of 105 buildings.

Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters on Nov. 1.
