A New Jersey mother is accused of killing her two young children, who were determined to have been drowned.

Police in Lakewood responded to a report of two children suffering cardiac arrest on the afternoon of June 25, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said in a release. Life-saving aid rendered at the scene was unsuccessful.

The children, aged 3 and 1, were both pronounced dead at the scene, prosecutors said in a release.

Per the release, Naomi Elkins, 27, the mother of the two children, was arrested and charged with murder after it was determined that the 1-year-old had been stabbed and that both children, who were not identified by the prosecutor’s office, had been drowned.
