Meet Major James! Eva Amurri Martino Shares First Photo of Newborn Son

Eva Amurri Martino is a mom again!

The actress and lifestyle blogger gave birth to a son, Major James Martino, on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at home, she announced via her blog’s newsletter. Born “safely and swiftly” at 1:44 p.m., baby Major weighed in at 8 lbs., 3 oz. and measured 22 inches long.

“It is with so much gratitude and joy that Kyle, Marlowe and I announce the arrival of our sweet boy,” Amurri Martino, 31, said of her newborn son before sharing a photo Thursday morning. “Our hearts are bursting. Our family is complete. Thank you so much for all of your love and support.”

Major is the second child for Amurri Martino and husband of almost five years Kyle Martino. He joins big sister Marlowe Mae, 2.

Amurri Martino announced the news that she and Martino were expecting again in a post titled “Exciting News!” on her blog in April.

“We feel so lucky to be celebrating this special gift,” wrote Amurri Martino, who previously blogged about suffering a miscarriage in 2015. “Kyle and I can’t wait to watch what a funny and loving big sister Marlowe will be, and we are cherishing our last months with her as the sole center of our universe.”

And in October, Amurri Martino shared an adorable video of herself playing with her little girl in the days leading up to baby No. 2’s arrival.

“When your two year old is legitimately your best friend. White-knuckling these last days and weeks of “just us”, soaking in every moment, listening to her stories, and trying out every single Snapchat filter. Because that’s just how we do. (by Dada, who finds us like this a lot.),” she wrote in the post.

The daughter of Susan Sarandon couldn’t help spilling the beans on her baby’s sex in the same post.

“As sometimes happens after you have experience with only one child, I think I had convinced myself that my particular baby factory only produced children of the female variety,” the Saved! star admitted. “Well … turns out that the universe was pushing for a little man to join our mix and we all are just so excited!”

Amurri Martino opened up in a June blog for PEOPLE about her feelings as her family grows and changes, getting candid about the complex emotions behind becoming a unit of four.

“I’m trying to be as honest with myself as possible when I’m feeling scared or emotional about our family changing; I know it’s what helps me to grow,” she wrote.

“As I write this, I sit in awe as my son does back flips, dancing and celebrating, and I know for sure that the relationship with his spitfire sister was written in the stars.”
