Soleil Moon Frye Introduces Son Lyric Sonny Roads

For Soleil Moon Frye, there’s one pretty big advantage of third time motherhood.

“With my first [daughter Poet Sienna Rose, 8½], I was so crazy about making sure everything was perfect,” Frye, who welcomed son Lyric Sonny Roads on Feb. 10, tells PEOPLE exclusively.

“I was more laid-back with Jagger [Joseph Blue, 6 next week], and now it’s even more so. I try not to beat myself up. We’re too hard on ourselves.”

That’s not to say pregnancy itself was a walk in the park. “I had morning sickness — morning, noon and night,” she says with a laugh. “And the last month or two was really hard — it was hard to get out of bed, hard to move around. I think because he was so big.”

That’s 9 lbs., 7 oz. to be exact. “A huge baby out of my little body! And he has the broadest shoulders — a total football player,” says the 5’1″ Frye, who was grateful for the “bit of an epidural” she received to deliver her son.

“I could still totally feel my legs, which is great because I wouldn’t have been able to push him out otherwise. It was another level,” she explains.

Frye, 37, doesn’t feel any pressure to lose the baby weight quickly.

“I try not to stress. I don’t want to set a bad example for my girls. I’m not saying I won’t be thrilled to go on some health regimen at some point, but we do fun stuff like Pasta Thursdays and Taco Tuesdays and I don’t want them to feel like Mommy doesn’t eat,” she says.

As for her first son’s unique moniker? It’s a blend of her and husband Jason Goldberg‘s favorite name, a bit of fate and an ode to her late father, actor and boxer Virgil Frye, who passed away in 2012.

“While I was pregnant, we kept seeing the word ‘lyric’ over and over again. We’re big believers in signs. So it was meant to be,” Frye explains. “Sonny was the nickname of my dad and Roads is a name we love. We always wanted ‘Roadie’ as a nickname.”

And Frye, co-founder of crafting site Moonfrye.com and author of Let’s Get This Party Started, is reveling in the help from her two older daughters.

“They’re totally in love with their baby brother. I had no idea how much Jagger wanted another baby. She was so excited not to be the youngest anymore!”

Mommy is pretty happy too.

“Lyric is the most loving, sweet, yummy, delicious baby,” says Frye. “We’re a full house of love right now.”
