GloRilla Shares DM from Rihanna with 'Wild Hypocritical' Question About When Her Upcoming Album Drops

There may not be a release date for Rihanna's album anytime soon, but that hasn't stopped her from asking about when another artist's album is due.

On Tuesday, July 2, GloRilla shared a screenshot of a DM from the Fenty Beauty founder that revealed she not only had a fan in the superstar, but she was curious about when the rapper's album is coming out.

"You got all summer sis! I know dis wild hypocritical, but when the album drop? 🤷🏿‍♀️❤️," the "Umbrella" hitmaker, 36, wrote in a DM, which the "TGIF" artist, 24, shared on Instagram alongside the caption "Ayyeeeee."

GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, first earned recognition for her 2022 single "F.N.F. (Let's Go)" with Hitkidd, which became her first song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Memphis rapper has since earned hits with "Tomorrow 2" featuring Cardi B, "On Wat U On" with Moneybagg Yo, "Yeah Glo!" and "Wanna Be" with Megan Thee Stallion.

On April 5, GloRilla dropped her debut mixtape, Ehhthang Ehhthang.

In a cover story with Vibe on Monday, July 1, she revealed that she was in the studio working on her debut album, which is expected later this year.

In the interview, GloRilla opened up about how she's looking for longevity in her career.

“[Yo] Gotti told me don’t get comfortable. Keep your foot on the gas. The moment you let up, everything will just go downhill…it’s about consistency and who can have longevity. That’s success,” she told the outlet. 

Meanwhile, in June, Rihanna told Entertainment Tonight that she's "starting over" with R9.

"I think that music, for me, is a new discovery," said the "California King Bed" musician. "I'm rediscovering things. I have been working on the album for so long that I kinda put all that stuff aside and now I'm prepared to go back in the studio. I'm gonna start -- give me a second!"

"Yeah, I'm starting over. But I don't want to neglect the songs that I have, so I actually want to go back and listen to stuff with new ears, with my new perspective and then see what applies and what I'm still in love with," she continued.

Just two months prior, Rihanna also addressed the status of her next album in a conversation with Extra.

"It's gonna be amazing," she told the publication. "It has to be — that is the only reason it's not out yet. If I'm not feeling it and I'm not feeling like it represents the evolution, the time I spent away. There should be a show of growth, right?"

Rihanna added that she ultimately wants to "play" on this record. "I want to have fun with it and show truly where I am at," she said.
