Sophie Turner is turning heads in her latest role as Joan!

The Game of Thrones alum, 28, made fans buzz with excitement when she posted the first look into her new ITVX series, Joan, to Instagram on Tuesday, June 25.

Based on the real life story of Joan Hannington, one of Britain's most notorious diamond thieves, the six-part series will see Joan (Turner) in her 20s as a "fiery uncompromising and intoxicating character, who is not without her own deep scars and vulnerability," according to the show's official synopsis.

Despite being a "doting and loving young mother to four-year-old Debbie," Joan will find herself stuck in a "disastrous marriage to a violent thug." When he finally goes on the run, Joan "seizes the moment to leave her old life" and makes "heartbreaking decisions" in order to secure a better life for her and her daughter.

In the teaser, fans see Turner adopt multiple different personas as Joan. The clip begins with Joan applying makeup in front of a vanity and fashioning herself into a short wig.

Soon after, Joan transforms into several different people all while fleeing from police officers and finding herself in precarious situations. While approaching a little girl, presumably her daughter, Joan can be seen with a brunette bob as she presses a finger to her lips.

In another scene, she breaks into a room and sets her sights on an array of precious rings.

"Mother, lover, liar, thief," words flash over the trailer.

In September 2023, Turner was filming Joan when news about her separation from her husband Joe Jonas went public. In her cover story for British Vogue's June 2024 issue, Turner elaborated more on the days that followed her split from the singer and called it "the worst few days of my life."

“I remember I was on set, I was contracted to be on set for another two weeks, so I couldn’t leave. My kids were in the States and I couldn’t get to them because I had to finish Joan. And all these articles started coming out," she recalled of the headlines that followed Jonas filing for divorce.

"I mean, it’s unfathomable the amount of people that will just make s--- up and put it up based on a picture," she continued. "A picture might tell a thousand words, but it’s not my story. It felt like I was watching a movie of my life that I hadn’t written, hadn’t produced, or starred in. It was shocking. I’m still in shock.”

The actress said that after "two weeks of me being in a rut," her lawyer reminded her what was at stake. "She reminded me that it was my children I was fighting for," Turner said.
