That is one epic smooch.

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard were open about their decision to wait until their wedding day to kiss for the first time – and the newlyweds sure made it count.

In a swoon-worthy moment captured in this photo, Derick dramatically dips his new bride, the second daughter of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar of 19 Kids and Counting, as they share a passionate kiss – one of their first ever.

Jill’s assessment of the long-awaited wedding day lip-locks?

“It was worth the wait,” the new Mrs. Dillard told PEOPLE shortly after they officially became husband and wife and shared their first smooches.

The duo exchanged vows Saturday at Cross Church in Springdale, Arkansas – the Duggar family’s hometown – in front of more than 1,000 guests, including Jill’s 18 siblings.

The pair, who share strong Christian beliefs, made no secret of their intention to wait until their wedding for their first kiss.

“I think it is safer and makes it more special to wait to kiss until your wedding day,” Jill, 23, told PEOPLE shortly after they began dating. “To save the physical side of your marriage for your wedding day and not going further than you should – we want to have no regrets.”

The pair waited until their engagement to hold hands, and Derick said he shared Jill’s desire to wait until the wedding to get more intimate.

“You can really get to know each other on every level without the physical part of it,” Dillard, 25, told PEOPLE. “I am the most blessed man to have Jill.”
