Kim and Barry Plath are officially ending their marriage.

Kim, 51, filed for divorce on June 26 from her estranged husband Barry two years after the Welcome to Plathville stars announced their separation.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, the TLC star called their marriage of over two decades “irretrievably broken.” The date of separation is listed as December 23, 2021, two days before Christmas.

Kim says she is “a fit and proper parent to care for the minor children” and requests primary custody of the couple’s three minor children: Amber, 15, Cassia, 13, and Mercy, 11.

Kim, who now resides in Florida, is asking for Barry, who she says is “gainfully employed,” to provide child support for the minor children.

The pair are also parents to Ethan, 26, Hosanna, 24, Micah, 23, Moriah, 21, Lydia, 20, and Isaac, 18. They also had a son, Joshua, who died at 17 months old.

The reality star claims in the filing that she is “entitled to an equitable division” of marital assets and their debts should be divided between both parties.

Representatives for Kim and Barry did not immediately return PEOPLE’s request for comment.

The filing comes two years after the two announced they were parting ways after 24 years of marriage.

"After considerable thought and discussion, we have decided to end our marriage," the pair shared in a statement with PEOPLE at the time. "While this was not an easy decision, we know it's the best choice for both of us.”

“We have been through many highs and lows in our 24 years of marriage and as we navigate this new chapter in our lives, we will co-parent our amazing children,” the statement continued.

The former couple’s marital struggles  — including their decisions to separate and live apart — were chronicled on season 4 of their TLC reality show.

"I can't help but feel a little betrayed," Barry said in one episode. "One thing I thought wouldn't ever be shaken was us. Now it's totally shaken up. It's just really sad. It's a tragedy."

Kim shared her side of the relationship, too. "I just feel like I've been hurt too much," she told Barry.

When the Plathville patriarch asked Kim why she was being "selfish," she said: "Do you want me to stay knowing that I'm not happy?" Kim has since moved on with boyfriend Ken Palmer.
