A Utah woman was feeling down on her luck when it came to love until late last year. Now, she's married to the love of her life.

Emmarie Jensen, 27, tells PEOPLE she officially got married to her husband McCray on April 13 — just three months after their relationship began. It happened to be Emmarie's first relationship, too.

The full-time beauty content creator recently began documenting her journey in videos on TikTok, which she says have garnered mixed reviews. Nevertheless, Emmarie still hopes her story will inspire others to never give up on love. “There is someone out there for you,” she says, adding, “just keep trying.”

For most of her life, Emmarie says she “kept to herself” and “was not looking” to date anyone. “I'm also more of a reserved person,” she says, “so I wasn't super duper putting myself out there.”

In July 2023, Emmarie decided it was time to take dating more seriously. So, she joined a bunch of dating apps, and even went out on some blind dates.

“They were fine. There just wasn't really that much of a connection,” she admits, adding that she saw “a lot of red flags" out there — but everything changed when she met before her husband on Hinge at the beginning of December.

McCray’s chivalrous side came out on the first date. Emmarie says it was snowing “pretty hard at the end” of the date, and that her now-husband turned around to help her clean off her windshield.

After learning Emmarie plays guitar, McCray printed out some custom 3D guitar picks with her initials photograph etched into them.

“He's just the most thoughtful guy,” she tells PEOPLE. “I never met a guy that put that much thought into a first date ever. Someone that he hadn't met before. He is just the most sweet, thoughtful gentleman that I know.”

Emmarie realized McCray was the man for her about three weeks after they officially started dating in January. By February, the two agreed they wanted to marry — but the engagement wasn’t official until March.

“I just knew that I just wanted to get my life started with him,” Emmarie says, “and I was ready to make the commitment and get things started.”

In March, McCray got down on one knee and proposed under the guise of taking test photos for their actual engagement. After the proposal, McCray’s two children approached the couple and gave Emmarie two additional rings with their names etched on them.

Initially, Emmarie was “a little tiny bit nervous” about being thrust into parenthood, but says her step-children “are the sweetest angel kids on the planet.”

The wedding took place in April, just one month after they got engaged. Emmarie says it was “a little stressful” preparing for the big day and having to make so many decisions so quickly. But she's content with the small wedding that ended up coming together.

“We kept it really simple,” she tells PEOPLE. Afterward, they celebrated their marriage with family — and some donuts.

Emmarie moved in with her new family the day after the wedding — but before the wedding, she says she was driving to McCray’s house every day, and would often drive back around 1 or 2 a.m. local time.

Throughout her unique romance journey, Emmarie recorded videos for TikTok detailing her path to love. The reaction to Emmarie’s story has been mixed, which she expected, although she says she didn't think the response “would be quite as intense as it ended up being.”

But the Utah-based content creator has also had lots of support, which she appreciates. "It's really, really nice to have those supportive people," she adds.

As for her future with McCray, Emmarie says they two are looking forward to having children together and adding to their blended family.

“We're not exactly sure when we want to do that,” she tells PEOPLE. “We want to get settled in as a family first, but more kids are definitely in the future. We both love kids so much. We want lots of kids.”
