Biden regime Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday announced that you and I are forking over $404 million in new aid to the Palestinians, on top of the more than $1.8 billion we have sent them since Old Joe Biden started pretending to be president. This will fix everything, right?
Surely our show of good faith will be reciprocated, Blinken will finally be able to get Hamas to negotiate, and peace will soon dawn in the Middle East. Won’t it? No. With this latest misuse of taxpayer funds, Blinken shows yet again that he lacks a basic understanding of what the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is all about.
In fact, the entire U.S. policy regarding Israel and the Palestinians is based on false assumptions, wishful thinking, and outright ignorance. This ignorance, however, is combined with arrogance, and that’s a lethal combination that prevents Biden, Blinken, and their henchmen from ever examining their core assumptions. So instead, they keep leading the nation and the world down an increasingly dangerous blind alley.
At the “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza” Conference in Jordan on Tuesday, Blinken was harshly critical of Israel, repeating Hamas talking points about conditions on the ground in Gaza: “The crisis in Gaza is immense. More than a million people have been displaced from Rafah alone, in the last month alone – many of whom had already been uprooted multiple times. Ninety-five percent of people there cannot access clean drinking water. Hunger is everywhere. Virtually everyone in Gaza depends on aid to survive. Most of Gaza’s sanitation system has been destroyed. Fewer than a dozen of Gaza’s 40 hospitals are open.” You know, those hospitals that Hamas uses as bases of operations.
Only later on in his speech did Blinken admit that Israel is facing ���an enemy that conducts operations from schools, from hospitals, from camps of displaced families, an enemy that cynically hides behind or underneath the people it purports to represent.”
Yet if Blinken really thinks of Hamas this way, why is he sending it another $404 million? For there can be no serious doubt about it: whatever Blinken may claim about how this money is going for “humanitarian aid” and must not be seized by Hamas, there is no entity in Gaza that can prevent Hamas from taking it. If Blinken doesn’t realize that, then he is not fit to be secretary of state. If he knows it and doesn’t care, he should be tried for treason for sending U.S. taxpayer funds to a designated terrorist group.
It is clear that Blinken severely misunderstands Hamas. At a joint press conference Wednesday with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Blinken expressed frustration with Hamas’ reaction to his truce proposal: “I don’t want to characterize it further, but at some point in a negotiation – and this has gone back and forth for a long time – you get to a point where if one side continues to change its demands, including making demands and insisting on changes for things that it already accepted, you have to question whether they’re proceeding in good faith or not.”
This is jaw-dropping. He’s wondering now if Hamas is actually negotiating in good faith? This puts Blinken in the running to be the second most naïve secretary of state ever, right behind the architect of Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran, John Kerry. Hamas made its fundamental goal clear in its 1988 founding charter: “Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.” Everything it does is a means to that end.

To acknowledge this would get in the way of Blinken’s realpolitik, and so he ignores it. He continues to pretend that gestures of goodwill on the part of the United States will be received with gratitude and reciprocated. This is a staple of American statecraft, and if Blinken were dealing with another Western nation, it would have a good chance of working. But Hamas has an entirely different perspective.
The Qur’an says: “And the Jews will not be pleased with you, neither will the Christians, until you follow their religion” (2:120). In that context, gestures of goodwill from the U.S. are regarded with suspicion as attempts to shake the Muslims’ loyalty to Islam. Another $404 million? They’ll take it, but it will not make Hamas love us or want to play ball with us; it will only deepen the suspicion of the U.S. that Hamas jihadis already have.
If Blinken really wants to work toward a lasting solution in the Middle East, he needs to understand Hamas. But that would lead him to have to acknowledge realities about Islam that contradict the establishment’s dogmas about the Religion of Peace, so it is not going to happen.
