About this app

Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging over Rich Communication Services (RCS) with fallback to SMS/MMS. Get more done in your messages with one-tap calendar reminders and emoji replies, and keep your conversations secure with spam protection and end-to-end encryption so you can focus on connecting with the people and businesses you care about — no matter what device they use.

Know when friends are typing or when they've read your message, share high-resolution images and videos, easily add people to a group chat, and experience an all-around richer messaging experience.

End-to-end encryption secures your eligible communications, so no one (including Google and third parties) can read or view your messages and attachments except the person you’re messaging.

If a website is suspicious or unsafe, you’ll be warned before clicking any links. You can also block and report potential spammers to help stop unwanted and fraudulent messages.

Share high-resolution videos directly from your Google Photos library.

Keep the conversation going no matter what device you're on. Enjoy RCS chats with friends on your phone, computer, Android tablet, or smart watch with the Messages app.

Access suggested replies, one-tap calendar reminders, link sharing, and more without leaving your message. Reply quicker and get more out of your conversations with smart actions.

Suggested responses, gifs, and emojis make conversations faster and more fun. Reply back to messages with just a tap and keep the conversation going.

I've been using this app for a while on my Galaxy Note 10, and it was a great experience on there. However, in moving to the S24, RCS just doesn't work. Either the message will keep loading when I try to reply from the notifications panel, or when sending from the app itself, it will just crash. The issue goes away when I turn off RCS, but I genuinely like to use the extra features that it gives and even depend on them. If I hope it's just a simple bug that's fixed in an update sometime soon.

I would 100% keep the old version if it wasn't bugged out now- you can barely identify the pinned contacts, I hate the constant pop-ups of what form of messaging I'm using, you can only attach videos that are 2 seconds long with apple users, I can't use my voice to text unless it's a voice message, the design doesnt look like normal text, and a lot of times the app is stubborn to make things read when you click on them. I LIKE the option for reactions, group names, & being able to pause sending.

We'll pass this along to the team so they can continue iterating on your feedback to make Messages even better. I've used this app for some time and it works well. I wish they would stop playing with the read receipts. The text was the best option, clear and concise. This worked and was easily understandable. That's why I gave it 4 stars. Stop justifying your job with bad UI changes. One last thing, I seem to lose RCS and not get messages often. Not sure what's happening there.
