About this app

Create a more organised and personalised smart home with Google Home. Set up, manage and control your Google Nest, Wifi and Chromecast devices, plus thousands of compatible smart home products like lights, cameras, thermostats and more – all from the Google Home app.

Personalise your home view.
Pin your most-used devices, automations and actions to the Favourites tab for easy access straight away when you open the app. View your Nest cameras and doorbell live feeds, and scan through event history easily. Set up and manage routines in the Automations tab. And quickly edit any permissions in the consolidated Settings tab.

Understand what's going on at home at a glance.
The Google Home app is designed to show you the status of your home and keep you up to date with what you may have missed. Check in on your home at any time and see a recap of recent events.

Control your home from anywhere.
Google Home for Wear OS allows you to control compatible smart home devices from your watch. Turn on the lights, adjust the thermostat or get an alert when there's a person or package at your front door. Use the favourites tile or add a device to your watch face to make managing your home as easy as a tap on the wrist.

A helpful home is a private home.
Protecting your privacy starts with one of the world's most advanced security infrastructures, which we build directly into Google products so that they're secure by default. And Google uses your compatible devices and data to make your home helpful, but only in the ways that you allow. Visit the Google Nest Safety Centre at safety.google/nest to learn more about how we protect your information and respect your privacy.

2024: Consistently fails to add some devices. Groups feature is completely broken. Group names display incorrectly, sometimes appearing as device names. Trying to edit device settings will open a group. Trying to edit a group doesn't show all the added devices. Abysmal app. 2023: Loves crashing. Doesn't support simple integrations with todo list apps outaide of a chosen 3. Requires about a minute per device to pair when they forget the wifi for aome reason. Just a pain to use all around.

We're sorry for the trouble, Matt. You might want to try reinstalling the Google Home app to make sure it's up-to-date. Also, we'd suggest rebooting your devices to refresh their connection. For more help, reach out through our support here: https://goo.gle/3ie15Ae

Cameras are super slow - Always loading. The app ui is not at all good. I find hard to navigate to devices, I have a lot of them. The cameras miss the start of event action always. The quality of cameras is also poor can't even make out the face in broad daylight, let alone night. Very hard to set zone for notifications. My wife has iphone, even though she has notifications enabled, she never gets them. Tapo is way better. No AI features , face detection is so poor and ridiculous.

For some reason it connects to the Google Nest Mini, but if I ask the Nest Mini to do anything it tells me to log into the app (can play spotify ONLY when I connect the speaker from the spotify app), and when I try to add my smart lights app to the Google home app it says it has linked the account then goes back to the search list. Update: now I cannot connect to any of my google devices. They are visible in the home app, but I can't connect to them. I'm using a Google pixel 8a too
