About this app

Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging over Rich Communication Services (RCS) with fallback to SMS/MMS. Get more done in your messages with one-tap calendar reminders and emoji replies, and keep your conversations secure with spam protection and end-to-end encryption so that you can focus on connecting with the people and businesses that you care about – no matter what device they use.

Know when friends are typing or when they've read your message, share high-resolution images and videos, easily add people to a group chat and experience an all-round richer messaging experience.

End-to-end encryption secures your eligible communications, so no one (including Google and third parties) can read or view your messages and attachments except the person you're messaging.

If a website is suspicious or unsafe, you'll be warned before clicking any links. You can also block and report potential spammers to help stop unwanted and fraudulent messages.

Share high-resolution videos directly from your Google Photos library.

Keep the conversation going, no matter what device you're on. Enjoy RCS chats with friends on your phone, computer, Android tablet or smart watch with the Messages app.

Access suggested replies, one-tap calendar reminders, link sharing and more without leaving your message. Reply quicker and get more out of your conversations with smart actions.

Suggested responses, GIFs and emojis make conversations faster and more fun. Reply to messages with just a tap and keep the conversation going.

Write a text message when it's convenient for you, then schedule the ideal date and time to send it. Get ahead of well wishes and ensure that your messages arrive at the optimal time with schedule send. App available on Wear OS devices

I'm getting duplicates on messages from certain individuals I message with whoever are on same network, using this app. The original when messages are sent, and a notification pops up in Notification panel and a second delayed message within 5 seconds of opening the app. It's getting rather annoying for both of us as it's happening at either end. We both have One UI 6.1. But it's not happening locally, just across the country.

Hi, Mark. Messages by Google just displays the OTP sent by carriers or other third party apps. The process of transmitting may incur delays depending on various factors. For best help, please reach out to your carrier. Thanks.

It's good. Works like normal messages but a couple extra features like seeing when a message has been read or if someone is typing if they also use google messages. As well as different stickers and animated emojis and stuff you can send. Or reactions to texts instead of having to send a full reply... Only thing I wish it had was more options when it comes to theme. It only has a couple different colours for chats. But I'd love it if they had cute/cool downloadable themes just for messages

I've been using this app for a while on my Galaxy Note 10, and it was a great experience on there. However, in moving to the S24, RCS just doesn't work. Either the message will keep loading when I try to reply from the notifications panel, or when sending from the app itself, it will just crash. The issue goes away when I turn off RCS, but I genuinely like to use the extra features that it gives and even depend on them. If I hope it's just a simple bug that's fixed in an update sometime soon.
