EDIT: I turned on battery saver mode and that fixed it. For context I'm playing on a Pixel 8 pro. TURN ON BATTERY SAVER MODE. I don't know what happened to this game, I used to play it all the time on my old phone and it ran perfectly fine. The onscreen controls were a little clunky but you got used to them. Started it up today while in a waiting room and it's like it's been sped up to 3x speed.

IMPORTANT: Game engine is timed to your own frame rate, so change your screen to run at 60 while playing. Other than that, one of the best games known to man. (Metroid)Vania is called the latter because of this particular game. I would love if Konami set the frame limit to 60 in an update though so I wouldn't have to make the change in my system settings every time I play.

Giving low stars because it seems really really sped up by comparison to console version, like at least 3×normal speed. Still pretty good in spite of that, I've been playing this since I was a young teen and love this game, probably one of my favorites of all time. Slow it down, Richter is missing important commands, can't double tap to run, slide doesn't have the leaping kick, can't figure out how to activate the special ability for the flame whip etc etc.... I'm lowering stars for major flaws
