Hi, I’m Dax Shepard, and I love talking to people. I am endlessly fascinated by the messiness of being human, and I find people who are vulnerable and honest about their struggles and shortcomings to be incredibly sexy. I invite you to join me as I explore other people’s stories. We will celebrate, above all, the challenges and setbacks that ultimately lead to growth and betterment. What qualifies me for such an endeavor? More than a decade of sobriety, a degree in Anthropology and four years of improv training. I will attempt to discover human “truths” without any laboratory work, clinical trials or data collection. I will be, in the great tradition of 16th-century scientists, an Armchair Expert.

The Avett Brothers return?! Thank you!

I have been an Avett fan since 2011 and was thrilled you had them back on. The first Armchair I listened to was their first interview and I have been hooked on all iterations of this show and am a bonafide armcherry. Monica and I are spirit animals, I’m convinced. I’d love to know what your favorite Avett songs are; mine is If it’s the Beaches. Thank you for doing what you do and keeping us not only entertained but laughing and learning along the way.

The best

Love this podcast so much. The interviews are fantastic. Love the experts especially. My book collection has grown significantly from listening! Dax being so open about his journey through sobriety has changed my life.
And what is up with some of these reviews? After years and years and so many episodes - you can’t expect to agree with every word that comes out of someone’s mouth. When did we get so intolerant of other humans? And, isn’t embracing our humanity part of what the whole show is about?
Keep up the amazing work AE!

SOO GOOD

I myself am a minor and my mom lets me listen to specific episodes so I haven’t heard all of the episodes but it’s sooooo good I love these story’s and I’m honestly surprised that people think Dax and Monica are annoying or have a big ego but whatever.
