By saying that the eye is the lamp of the body, Jesus highlights how our relationship to our possessions reflects our true character. Jesus makes it clear that how we relate to our money and possessions reveals how we relate to God and neighbor. He urges his listeners to not store up their treasures here on Earth but in the sky.
