Well, it looks like reality is beginning to hit for those living in the progressive Twilight Zone bubble. Some Democrats are finally acknowledging the inevitable—and not because they’ve had a sudden epiphany about what Americans truly want and need: President Trump.

This is pure political survival and absolutely cynical. All of these Democrats, who watched silently as Biden steered the country off a cliff and ignored his cognitive decline while applauding his failing policies, see the MAGA storm coming, and they’re scared. That’s why a Dem representative from Maine has suddenly embraced one of the most sensible, grounded views we’ve seen in some time. He knows he’d be toast otherwise. Rep. Jared Golden now admits he’s always known President Trump would win, and the disastrous debate didn’t phase him one bit. Do you believe that? Of course not. He goes on to say that, while he won’t be casting his vote for Trump, he’s at peace with the outcome and confident that America will thrive.

One thing’s for sure: these backtracking Democrats understand that their voters are worried about the economy, jobs, Social Security, and Medicare—and clearly, Biden’s on the wrong side of these issues. Honestly, if they really cared about the country and the American people, they’d be voting for President Trump in these dire times.

Ben Weingarten:

Dem Rep. Jared Golden: “While I don’t plan to vote for him, Donald Trump is going to win. And I’m OK with that.

There are winners and losers in every election. Democrats’ post-debate hand-wringing is based on the idea that a Trump victory is not just a political loss, but a unique threat to our democracy. I reject the premise. Unlike Biden and many others, I refuse to participate in a campaign to scare voters with the idea that Trump will end our democratic system.”

Here’s the op-ed that Rep. Jared Golden wrote for the Bangor Daily News:

After the first presidential debate, lots of Democrats are panicking about whether President Joe Biden should step down as the party’s nominee. Biden’s poor performance in the debate was not a surprise. It also didn’t rattle me as it has others, because the outcome of this election has been clear to me for months: While I don’t plan to vote for him, Donald Trump is going to win. And I’m OK with that.

There are winners and losers in every election. Democrats’ post-debate hand-wringing is based on the idea that a Trump victory is not just a political loss, but a unique threat to our democracy. I reject the premise. Unlike Biden and many others, I refuse to participate in a campaign to scare voters with the idea that Trump will end our democratic system.

This Independence Day marks our nation’s 248th birthday. In that time, American democracy has withstood civil war, world wars, acts of terrorism and technological and societal changes that would make the Founders’ head spin.

Rep. Golden cynically understands what this election is about: It’s a rebuke of failed Dem policies and a buffoon who is controlled by a chorus of puppet masters. Rep. Golden knows how far off the mark the Dems are with their “precious democracy” messaging, yet he sat by silent, and his party drove the country into the ground and weaponized the judicial system. But now that Biden is dead in the water, Rep. Golden wants to speak up.

Rep. Golden’s op-ed continues:

Pearl-clutching about a Trump victory ignores the strength of our democracy. Jan. 6, 2021, was a dark day. But Americans stood strong. Hundreds of police officers protected the democratic process against thousands who tried to use violence to upend it. Judges and state election officials upheld our election laws. Members of Congress, including leaders from both parties, certified the election results.

They all are joined in the defense of democracy by the millions of us who, like me, made an oath of allegiance to the United States and to the Constitution when we began our military service, plus hundreds of millions of freedom-loving Americans who won’t let anyone take away our constitutional rights as citizens of the greatest democracy in history.

This election is about the economy, not democracy. And when it comes to our economy, our Congress matters far more than who occupies the White House.

So, it’s no surprise Rep. Golden has all of a sudden “come to terms” with reality. He’s a slithery politician who doesn’t want to get thrown off the gray train.

Despite attempts by the left to tout Biden’s lackluster economy as the greatest ever, most Americans understand he’s not up for the job. We’re stumbling from one blunder to another, sleepwalking right towards World War III. The debate was an eye-opener for many, but anyone paying even the slightest bit of attention already knew Joe Biden was struggling with dementia. And to make matters worse, the post-debate polling was worse than the Dems ever imagined, and this leaked internal poll says it all.

PJ Media:

“A confidential polling memo circulating among anxious Democrats is confirming some of their worst fears: President Joe Biden’s support has started to tumble in key electoral battlegrounds in the wake of his disastrous debate performance in Atlanta, and Biden’s diminished standing is now putting previously noncompetitive states like New Hampshire, Virginia, and New Mexico in play for Donald Trump,” reports Peter Hamby of Puck News. “The memo was put together after the debate by OpenLabs, a progressive nonprofit that conducts polling and message-testing for a constellation of Democratic groups, including the 501(c)4 nonprofit associated with Future Forward, the preferred Super PAC for Biden’s reelection campaign.”

The poll, which was conducted within 72 hours after the debate, reveals that 40% of 2020 Biden voters now believe he should end his campaign, a notable increase from just 25% in May. Additionally, Biden is losing support among swing voters, with a 2-to-1 majority saying he should exit the race.

“This is, of course, only a single poll, conducted during the initial aftershocks of the debate,” Hamby cautions, “It will take a few weeks to determine if Biden’s slippage in the polls is a trend and not a blip. But given their reputation inside the party and connections to Future Forward, OpenLabs is a firm that Democratic campaigns take seriously.”

Will Biden step down and pass the reins to Kamala? Don’t hold your breath, despite all the media buzz. Her poll numbers aren’t looking much better than Joe’s.

After all, Kamala Harris was Joe’s “insurance policy” against impeachment and the 25th Amendment. She’s even more inept and unlikeable than he is, which really says something. While we shouldn’t get overconfident—we must stay focused and work harder than ever—it’s probably time for the Dems to adopt Rep. Golden’s realistic mindset. It seems a stretch to expect Biden, a failed and confused so-called “president,” to pull another “81 million” votes out of his hat.
