For tennis buffs who can’t get enough of Wimbledon, the oldest and arguably most prestigous tournament in the world, or in case any of the tour’s top players are shopping around for a new set of digs while they’re in town, this newly built London home is just 15 minutes from Centre Court.

Understated from the exterior and beautifully detailed on the inside, the Marryat Road property has come up for grabs, smack dab in the middle of the annual championship. Available privately for a hefty £13.5 million (or about $17.2 million) with Becky Fatemi at Sotheby’s International Realty, the stately residence near Wimbledon’s so-called “millionaire’s row” features seven bedrooms and six bathrooms amid a lush private garden.

“This is one of the most incredible houses in Wimbledon on one of the most sought-after roads in the area, moments from the Village and with exceptional schools nearby,” Chris Sellwood, sales director at Sotheby’s International Realty UK, said in a press statement. “It’s rare to find a newer build property of this size in the area, especially on such a good plot and location, and the interior architecture of the home affords generous spaces throughout, connecting to a stunning, expansive garden.”

The brick-clad home, tucked behind a shoulder-high brick wall and a gated entrance, feels bright and modern thanks to its recent construction and oversized windows. The current owners have kitted out the place with a ton of period detailing, along with an elevator. The main living area includes a carved marble fireplace, while the open-plan kitchen sports a large island, trendy navy-blue Shaker-style cabinetry, and top-of-the-line Miele appliances. An unfinished basement has the potential to be turned into a luxurious private sanctuary for relaxing and/or entertaining, perhaps a movie theater, yoga studio, and fitness suite, or for additional guest or staff accommodations.

“We are seeing inquiries from local and international buyers and expect these to jump as the tennis tournament gets underway for this home fit for a champion,” adds Sellwood.

The Wimbledon area has hosted the prestigious sporting event for over a century, and unsurprisingly, the affluent enclave is home to some of the largest (and priciest) pieces of real estate. Simon Cowell reportedly owned a six-bedroom home here that he purchased in 2018. According to The Daily Mail, the 64-year-old TV personality and America’s Got Talent judge put the mansion back on the market four years later without ever living in it.
