‘Good News’ on the Way for ‘Chicago Fire’ ‘PD’ ‘Med’ Season Renewals?

One Chicago fans have been combing the headlines for news of renewal orders for Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med. While the Dick Wolf triumvirate has been a hit for the past decade – including Chicago Fire claiming the crown as NBC’s most watched show of 2022 – the future of the franchise lies in doubt. But fear not, ChiHards, it looks like a joyous announcement might be right around the corner.

NBCUniversal TV and streaming chairman of entertainment content Susan Rovner offered some comforting and calming insight to One Chicago fans during a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter.

After spending more than two decades serving as Peter Roth’s top lieutenant at Warner Bros. Television, Rovner joined NBCUniversal in late 2020 and oversees entertainment programming at streamer Peacock, NBC, Bravo, USA Network, Syfy, Oxygen and E!.

THR asked Rovner about the network’s delay in renewing any of Dick Wolf’s shows. Does she expect the One Chicago and SVU shows to be back? Rovner replied, “There’s a lot of life and all things stick well” she told THR. “And I’m sure good news will come soon.”

What more needs to be said? This insight from Rovner should be enough to placate Fire fans fearing cancelation. The NBC exec also mentioned that the threat of a possible writers’ strike may factor into the timing of NBC’s series renewal announcements. The Title Is Undisputed

And in addition to Rovner’s welcome comments, it would certainly seem unlikely that NBC would walk away from three of its most successful shows. Meanwhile, the fan base for One Chicago Wednesday – charmingly coined the “ChiHards” – is fiercely loyal and growing by the week. As for Fire‘s 2022 title, the Dick Wolf drama ranked No. 1 in both metrics with an average of 9.4 million total viewers and a 1.1 rating in the key viewer demographic.

Not only was Chicago Fire NBC’s top show of the season, but Chicago Med and Chicago PD rounded out the Top 3 in total viewers with averages of 8.7 million and 8.5 million this season, respectively, according to One Chicago Center
