Lionel Messi and his team are the defending champions of the Copa, having reached the final in six of the past eight tournaments. This year's Copa also marks Messi's record 35th major tournament appearance. Argentina defeated Canada 2-0 in the semis to make it to the 2024 final. Colombia, meanwhile, beat Uruguay 1-0 in a tense match that ended with some drama both on and off the field.
