Show Special Guest

Appearing LIVE at this year’s Detroit High School Sports Awards will be none other than Detroit Native and Lions Wide Receiver, Donovan Peoples-Jones. At the event, he will provide an inspirational talk with a question and answer session.

About Donovan Peoples-Jones

A native of Detroit, Donovan Peoples-Jones (aka “DPJ”) has played high school, collegiate, and professional football within the state of Michigan. A graduate of Cass Technical High School, DPJ was a five-star recruit and rated the best wide receiver in the state of Michigan since Charles Rogers in 2000. In 2016, DPJ was named the Michigan High School Football Player of the Year. That same year, he committed to play for the University of Michigan. After an outstanding freshman year at Michigan, where DPJ garnered the second-most return attempts and eighth-most return yards in a single season, the Football Writers Association of America and 247 Sports named him Freshman All-American and Michigan’s Rookie of the Year. He finished his sophomore and junior years with All-Big Ten special teams third-team and All-Big Ten offensive teams third-team and honorable mention honors. The Cleveland Browns selected DPJ in the sixth round (187th overall pick) in the 2020 NFL draft. After three productive seasons with the Browns, he was traded to the Detroit Lions on October 31, 2023. In eight games with the Lions, DPJ caught five passes for 58 yards and played 30 special teams snaps. He signed a new deal with the Lions in March 2024 where the team expects big things from him in his first full season with the Lions.
