The Spurs announced on April 1 that Sochan (left ankle impingement) will undergo surgery and miss the rest of the season.
Sochan is expected to be healthy for training camp, where he'll try to build off a sophomore season in which he made modest improvements compared to his rookie campaign. The defensive specialist averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 rebounds in 74 games while increasing his 3-point percentage, though his overall field goal rate declined from 45.3 percent as a rookie to 43.8 percent.
The Rockets are not expected to make a move for Johnson during the offseason, according to Kelly Iko of The Athletic.
The Rockets could use a player with the offensive skill set of Johnson, but the Spurs are not expected to entertain offers for him. Johnson averaged 15.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game in 2023-24, though it's fair to say his scoring numbers experienced a decrease compared to previous years. After all, he averaged 22.0 points per game in 2022-23.
Sochan has been included on Poland's 17-man preliminary roster for the Olympic qualifying tournament to be held in July, according to Eurohoops.
Poland's roster has yet to be finalized, but since Sochan is the only NBA player on the roster, he seems to be a lock to participate in the event. Sochan previously won a gold medal with Poland at an under-16 championship in 2019 and also represented the country at the EuroBasket 2022 qualifiers. He averaged 11.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for the Spurs in the 2023-24 NBA season.
Mamukelashvili is being linked with a potential return to Europe ahead of the 2024-25 season, according to Johnny Askounis of Eurohoops.
Mamukelashvili had some decent moments playing for the Spurs during the 2023-24 season, and he's racked up over 100 appearances at the NBA level between Milwaukee and San Antonio. He doesn't have a lot of professional experience in Europe, but he's accustomed to the European style due to his stints with the Georgian national team.
Wembanyama is reportedly intrigued by the possibility of playing alongside Trae Young, Tim MacMahon of ESPN stated on The Hoop Collective podcast. "I will say I've talked to people who know Wemby who have indicated he is at least intrigued by that idea," he said. "Now, intrigued by that idea and pounding the table are two very different things. I have no idea whether Gregg Popovich would be intrigued by the idea."
Wembanyama won the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year award and came up second in the voting for the Defensive Player of the Year. The star big man could thrive playing alongside a creative floor general like Young, but it's unclear whether the Spurs would be open to making a move for the All-Star point guard. For what it's worth, the Hawks are expected to entertain potential trade offers for Young following a disappointing loss to the Bulls in the Play-In Tournament.
Wembanyama finished second in the voting for the 2023-24 Defensive Player of the Year Award, though he received 19 first-place votes and earned 245 points.
There's no question the Spurs' record and overall defensive struggles conspired against Wembanyama's case of winning the award, as the Frenchman led the NBA in blocks with 3.6 per contest. He should be a regular candidate for the award in years to come, although this season, Rudy Gobert won the award for a record-tying fourth time.
Wembanyama has been selected among the three finalists for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award. He has also been selected as a finalist for the 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year award.
Wembanyama had one of the best rookie seasons in NBA history, so his presence on the shortlist for the NBA Rookie of the Year award wasn't surprising. However, the fact that he was shortlisted for the Defensive Player of the Year award despite playing for a Spurs team that won only 22 games goes to show just how good he was on the defensive end. Wembayama averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 1.2 steals and a league-best 3.6 blocks despite averaging just 29.7 minutes per game across 71 appearances.

Johnson will end the season having played in just two of the Spurs' final 10 games. After averaging a career-high 22 points per game in 2022-23, the wing's scoring average dipped to 15.7 per game this season - likely in part due to the presence of Victor Wembanyama.
Collins has been solid contributor lately, totaling 35 points and 13 rebounds in his last two games.
Paul and Klay Thompson will both end up playing in game No. 82, while Stephen Curry and Draymond Green will get the day off.

The final game of Wembanyama's rookie season will be a 34-point, 12-rebound performance Friday as the Spurs pulled out a shocking win over the Nuggets. Wembanyama has averaged 23.2 points, 11.7 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.8 blocks in 31.4 minutes across 12 contests in March. While he didn't follow-up on the 10-block effort he posted Feb. 12 versus Toronto, the Frenchman posted four contests with at least six blocks. Wembanyama has now compiled nine games with at least 30 points, five of which came in March.
Jones is joined by veterans Kevin Love, Harrison Barnes and Jarrett Allen, as well as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Tyrese Maxey -- who are dealing with quad and hip injuries, respectively -- as candidates for the award. Vassell was diagnosed with a left foot stress reaction on April 1 and ruled out for the rest of the season.
Vassell had been on a nice run before the injury, averaging 21.9 points, 5.4 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.29 steals over the Spurs' last seven games. He finished his fourth NBA season averaging a career-high 19.5 points per game and after signing an extension, will be a key piece in San Antonio's rebuild in the coming years.
Johnson has missed the last three and four of the past five games.
